Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
Council President James called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m., but due to
technical difficulties the meeting did not get started until 6:12 p.m.
Council President James asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Statement Regarding Virtual Attendance by Council Members
The Clerk read the statement regarding the meeting being conducted by video
teleconference, pursuant to KRS 61.826 and in accordance with Senate Bill
150, and the provisions regarding any disruptions in remote access for Council
Members, which would require a temporary suspension of the meeting.
Council Members attended the meeting remotely, except for the following who
were present in Chambers:

Metro Council Action Summary - Final February 25, 2021
Moment of Silence
Council President James spoke about the pandemic and noted the number of
people who have died (909) as of that morning and tested positive (73,700) as
of the previous day in Louisville. He stated that the COVID-19 Dashboard has
been updated to show demographics for COVID-19 patients and vaccinations,
and includes a tab that provides information to get assistance during this
difficult time.
Council President James commemorated the life of Wendell Ray Jones who
died of COVID-19 on April 3, 2020.
He asked that everyone join him in a moment of silence.
Council President James recognized Council Member George for being named the Social
Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers from Kentucky and the
Kentucky Social Worker Professional Organization.

Council Member Blackwell recognized Edward Lee Smith, PRP High School student,
who has been named as one of the "Top 20 Storytellers Under 20" by PBS News Hour.
