R-032-20 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF THE SOCCER FIELDS LOCATED AT LOUISVILLE CHAMPIONS PARK AND ACREAGE OWNED BY METRO PARKS LOCATED ON LOWER RIVER ROAD BY LOUISVILLE CITY FC, LLC. A LCFC lease Champions.pdf Ex B LCFC Lease Chamions Park.pdf RES 029 2020.pdf A motion was made by Committee Member Triplett, seconded by Committee Member Mulvihill, that this Resolution be recommended for approval. Councilman Hollander stated that at the last meeting several committee members wanted further discussion regarding agreements and how this could be used for youth leagues, including the teams, but others as well. Brad Estes, Louisville City Football Club (LCFC), gave a presentation regarding Phase II, which is the training center. James O'Connor and Mario Sanchez, LCFC, spoke about the exposure with having a women's soccer league and training. Phase II will help raise the awareness of soccer. This facility will have two large fields to be used for the current professional team and the four smaller fields could be utilized for hockey and lacrosse. Five future sites will be part of Phase III. Council Member Hollander stated that the land being used is a partly paved parking lot and gravel area. The following Council Members asked questions: -Committee Member Parker -Committee Member Peden -Committee Member Fowler -Committee Member Mulvihill -Council Member Hollander The following answers were provided by LCFC: -LCFC's ground crew will be responsible for maintaining the fields -Same rates will be paid by all that rent space for practices -Metro Parks would need to approve the rates for practice rental space, seasonal versus hourly -Scheduling priorities would be handled by LCFC Louisville Metro Government Page 2 Parks and Sustainability Committee Action Summary - Final February 27, 2020 -There is no Metro funding -50 year lease is to keep and grow professional soccer -No one group will monopolize the training fields -Other problems can be addressed as they come along -More protocol will come within the next few weeks The motion carried by a voice vote and the Resolution was sent to the Consent Calendar. Adjournment Without objection, Chair Person Fowler adjourned the meeting at 3:40 p.m. *NOTE: Items sent to the Consent Calendar or Old Business will be heard before full Council at the Metro Council Meeting on March 5, 2020.
