The motion to untable carried without objection. Council Member Hamilton and Council Member Mulvihill spoke to the item and explained amendments that would be proposed. A motion was made by Vice Chair Peden, seconded by Committee Member Denton, that this amended Ordinance be amended by: - Striking out ", law enforcement support personnel, public airport authority security officers, other public and federal peace officers responsible for law enforcement" and inserting "employed by an agency located in Jefferson County" in Lines 4-6 of the proposed definition of Law Enforcement Officers on Page 1. - Striking out "officers" and inserting "agencies" in Line 5 of the section titled "Duties of law enforcement officers" on Page 4. The motion to amend carried by a voice vote. The motion to recommend for approval carried by the following vote and the amended Ordinance was sent to Old Business: Yes: 6- James, Peden, Green, Sexton Smith, Leet, and Denton Excused: 1- Flood Louisville Metro Government Page 3 Public Safety Committee Action Summary - Final June 14, 2017 4. R-042-17 A RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO THE CAPITAL AND OPERATING BUDGET ORDINANCES, URGING THE PRUDENT USE OF BUDGET SURPLUS FUNDS TO HIRE SWORN PEACE OFFICERS AND IMPROVE PUBLIC SAFETY THROUGHOUT LOUISVILLE METRO. The motion to untable carried without objection. Council Member Ackerson spoke to the item.
