Giesfeldt; Brian Benford and Johnnie C. Milton, Jr. Excused: 2 - Juliana R. Bennett and Aisha S. Moe APPROVAL OF MINUTES Alder Benford made a motion to approve the March 9, 2022 minutes. Giesfeldt seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. The first quarter report for 2022 will be attached to the May 11 PSRC agenda. 3. 70789 Report from the Madison Police Department including information on recent gun violence and an update on strategic planning Captain Drescher provided information from the attached document. PSRC was selected and will be involved with strategic planning/focal groups in mid to late Summer. There was discussion on community meetings, the annual report, and the difference between last year's summer strategic plan and the new strategic plan. It was asked if there are links available to attend strategic plan district meetings. Captain Drescher will inquire with Matrix regarding this. 4. 70790 Report from the Madison Fire Department/CARE's unit update Attachments: CARES Alder Report_March 2022.pdf Fire Operations Information.pdf PSRC - March 2022.pdf PSRC Monthly Report April 2022.pdf Assistant Fire Chief Stedman indicated he is available to answer any questions on the attached documents. (Fire information and CAREs) There was discussion on CAREs regarding hiring crisis workers, challenges with finding applicants/comensurate pay, pilot program vs. phase I, and evaluation of data and bringing systems together. NEW BUSINESS 5. 70795 Discussion on what the committee would like to see in the monthly police reports. Captain Drescher went over a few of the items the committee thought they might want to have shared with them. It was pointed out areas where some of this information is maintained on the police website. COMMITTEE REPORTS 6. 70796 Report from the Co-Chairs Attachments: 2022 Public Safety Review Committee Chair Schedule.pdf The agenda was mentioned and the lack of referrals the last couple of months from the council meetings to the committee. Alder Heck and Konkel are working with staff to gather budget items. 9. 70793 Future Agenda Items There was a suggestion for the committee to have intentional conversations on listening sessions and other items related to public safety and also to have a notified hearing on the police and fire budget.
