Mesa Council Chambers City of Mesa 57 East First Street Meeting Minutes Public Safety Committee Dennis Kavanaugh - Chairperson Chris Glover Terry Benelli Thursday, June 12, 2014 8:00 AM Council Chambers - Lower Level Chairman Kavanaugh called the meeting to order at 8:36 a.m. He excused Committeemember Glover from the entire meeting. 1 Items from citizens present. There were no items from citizens present. 2 Presentations: 2-a 14-0656 Hear a presentation, discuss and provide a recommendation on the Police Department's Explorer Program. Attachments: Presentation It was moved by Committeemember Benelli, seconded by Chairman Kavanaugh, to support staff's recommended improvements to the Mesa Police Department's Explorer Program and that the matter be forwarded on to City management and the full Council for discussion and consideration. Chairman Kavanaugh declared the motion carried unanimously by those present. 2-b 14-0657 Update the City of Mesa's current consumer fireworks ordinance to match SB1158 which puts restrictions on dates of sale and use in Maricopa County. Chairman Kavanaugh declared the motion carried unanimously by those present. 3 Adjournment. Without objection, the meeting adjourned at 9:16 a.m. City Councilmembers who are not members of this Committee may elect to attend this meeting for their own information.
