Call to Order The meeting commenced at 1:34 p.m. 2. Roll Call All Commissioners were present. 3. 221633 Communication for the approval of the February 7, 2023 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Janet Cleary, seconded by Kobena-Marcus Collins, that this Communication be APPROVED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 4- Bock, Smith, Cleary, and Collins No 0 Abstain 1- Miller GENERAL HEARING 4. 221672 Communication from the Milwaukee Public Library to extend the temporary appointments for David Farrar and Shoua Yang, Librarian I, from March 11, 2023 through July 15, 2023. A motion was made by Steve Smith, seconded by Janet Cleary, that this Communication be APPROVED. A motion was made by Kobena-Marcus Collins, seconded by Janet Cleary that this Communication be APPROVED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 5- Bock, Miller, Smith, Cleary, and Collins No 0 6. 221677 Communication from Department of Public Works, Operations Division-Sanitation Services, to extend the temporary appointment for Jeremy Snieg, Sanitation District Manager-Auxiliary, from March 5, 2023 through September 2, 2023. A motion was made by Janet Cleary, seconded by Kobena-Marcus Collins, that this Communication be APPROVED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 5- Bock, Miller, Smith, Cleary, and Collins No 0 10. 221670 Communication from the Department of Public Works-Operations Division to extend the probationary period for Ronald Williams, Urban Forestry Laborer, from February 28, 2023 through August 28, 2023. A motion was made by Marilyn Miller, seconded by Kobena-Marcus Collins, that this Communication be APPROVED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 5- Bock, Miller, Smith, Cleary, and Collins No 0 11. 221549 The Discharge Appeal hearing regarding Jason P. Rembalski, Department of Public Works, Electrical Services. This Communication was HELD IN COMMITTEE until the next meeting on March 14, 2023. ADJOURNMENT Kobena-Marcus Collins motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Janet Cleary. All in favor. None opposed. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 1:58 p.m. The Board may receive a motion to convene in closed session pursuant to Section 19.85 (1)(a) Wis. Stats., to deliberate concerning a case which was the subject of a quasi-judicial hearing before the Board of City Service Commissioners, or pursuant to Section 19.85 (1)(f) Wis. Stats., to consider financial, medical, social or personal histories of disciplinary data of specific persons, or the investigation of charges against specific persons, which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories of data, or involved in such problems or investigations. The Board may then reconvene in open session concerning any such item following the closed session pursuant to Section 19.85 (2) Wis. Stats. City of Milwaukee Page 3 BOARD OF CITY SERVICE Meeting Minutes - Final February 28, 2023 COMMISSIONERS In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Upon reasonable notice, efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities through sign language interpreters or auxiliary aids. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
