Julie Katrichis, Director of Clinical Services at City of Milwaukee Health Department
provided update
• Re: Level 3 Travel Advisory- Airport/Providers will tell travelers to selfquarantine
• COVID tracing - The Health department is responsible for contact tracing of
all individuals who test positive. The department is notified through the
Wisconsin Electronic Data Surveillance System (WEDSS) and case contact
information is also recorded in that system. The department does not release
specific personal health information.
• Media Updates: 02/28/2020, 03/05/2020, 03/08/2020, 03/09/2020
• Dr. Sanjib Bhattacharyya, Laboratory Director for City of Milwaukee Health
Department provided MHDL updates
• Wisconsin Diagnostic Lab & CHW Lab – working to obtain approval to
begin COVID -19 testing
• In-house testing updates – capacity, turnaround time
• Nicole Mutzenbauer provided HR Updates
• Priorities
• Budget Office lifted hold on hiring temporary employees
• Commissioner Kowalik provided - COVID-19 related updates

• Lessons learned re: DNC planning are helping frame COVID-19 response
preparation
• Once a case of COVID 19 is identified, event cancellation and additional
restrictions will need to be considered.
• Rotation of Back-Up to Commissioner of Health
• 1st Special Deputy Dr. Bhattacharyya
• 2nd Special Deputy Dr. Torres
• 3rd Claire Evers (in May 2020 after graduate studies completed)
• 4th Deputy Commissioner for Community Health
• Nicole Miles -Better Outcomes for Mom and Baby (BOMB) updates
• Plan to hire 4 doulas—2 have been hired , Will use HealthConnect
curriculum based doula model for training, staffing and service
delivery
• Originally thought there was an Request For Responses (RFR);
now, doulas will be independent contractors
5. Communication from the City Attorney's Office regarding the Board's statutory authority.
6. Communication from the Immunization Program regarding immunization reminder recalls

Lindsey Page, Infectious Disease Program Manager, City of Milwaukee Health
Department, and Cadin Truesdale from Pfizer provided an introduction to the Pfizer
Immunization Reminder Project - Vaccine Adherence in Kids (VAKs)
• Available at no cost and can be used to supplement an existing reminder call;
postcards, phone calls, text message and telephone
• Review of the program by the City Attorney is pending
7. Update on the development of a Lead-Safe Advisory Committee
The Common Council still needs to approve the Health in All Policies (Childhood Lead
Poisoning Prevention) mini-grant – the contract approval process was explained by Mark
Yatchak and Michael Stevenson
• Legal opinion regarding the permissibility for the Board to form a community task force is
pending
• The plan is to recruit around 30 community participants and the applications that have been
received to date were accepted pending approval of the grant and approval for the Board to
form the task force.

This agenda item was tabled and will be included at a future meeting

Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on
whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the
Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee,
whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In
the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be
taken at the simultaneous meeting.

more information. Bike racks are available on Water Street and Market Street and a Bublr Bike
Share station is located on the northeast corner of Kilbourn Avenue and Water Street.
Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit)
at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking
tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are
required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing
before a Common Council committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information
