a.Departmental updates and introductions
• Recent hires Rocio Serna and Shawn Benjamin joined the Board Meeting
b.COVID 19 pandemic response
• MHD presented and discussed slides that were also provided at Public Health and

i. Lab testing
MHDL continues to do COVID 19 testing but is not conducting antibody testing yet.
ii. Community testing strategy
• Assist MHD to develop mitigation strategies in the context of community outreach
and engagement for specific/minority groups
• Develop culturally appropriate community mitigation strategies for plant employees
and their families
• Identify actions regional meat packing plants can take to mitigate COVID-19 (safely
operate and reopen), including providing evidence-based guidance on ongoing testing
strategy/timing and protocols for employees
• Provision of support for MHD leaders with regard to communication of key messages
with government officials/politicians
iii. Contact tracing and follow up
• Deputy Paradis shared current daily testing goal of 2,000 for WI; 1,000 for
Milwaukee. Milwaukee based National Guard testing sites recent daily testing volumes
: Midtown (933); Umos (1,085)
• Deputy Paradis confirmed that MHD is able to initiate contact tracing attempts within
24-48 hours of notification of a positive test result in most cases. There continue to
be challenges in reaching and follow-up with some individuals. She also shared that
150-200 tracer will be required to adequately meet ongoing surge capacity; mitigation
includes utilization of MHD staff/furloughed Milwaukee Public School Nurses/ Medical
Residents; furloughed Milwaukee Public Library staff; cohort of nursing students
iv. Other
• Latino Outreach - MHD collaborating with 16th Street Health Center; CDC Field
Team is assisted with refining health risk messaging for Southside
• Board Members raised the following questions: –
What should messaging/marketing look like for 14-23 year old Milwaukee
residents?
What should messaging/marketing look like for LGTBQ+ demographic
• Once developed, the board will be asked to help disseminate the messaging and
communication tools produced from the Advancing Healthier Wisconsin grant.
4 Update on Health in All Policies (HiAP) Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Grant and lead safe
advisory committee formation
I. Grant is on pause
II. Formation of the Lead Safe Advisory Committee is on pause
III. MHD is working on getting extension for grant due to COVID-19 outbreak

whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In
the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be
taken at the simultaneous meeting.
