Call to Order 2. Roll call Present: Ruthie Burich-Weatherly, Caroline Gomez-Tom, Ald. Chantia Lewis, Julia Means, LaNelle Ramey, Ericka Sinclair, Dr. Ian Martin and Wujie Zhang Absent: Bria Gran 3. Approval of meeting minutes from December 2020 Board Member Ramey motioned, Ald. Lewis seconded, motion passed 4. Communication from the Commissioner a. Questions Interim Commissioner Marlaina Jackson presented an update on the COVID-19 Pandemic in Milwaukee, including the status of Moving Milwaukee Forward Safely order 4.3, testing, and MHD’s plans for vaccine rollout. 5. Discussion of COVID-19 vaccine rollout plans a. Discussion b. Board Input City of Milwaukee Page 1 BOARD OF HEALTH Meeting Minutes January 7, 2021 Interim Commissioner Jackson presented MHD’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout plans, including the communications and outreach, of which the Board is welcome to participate as ambassadors. MHD received and has begun administering vaccine to MHD staff and MFD EMS staff. The board may also be able to create or participate in a video of support of the outreach on vaccination. 6. Annual Statement of Economic Interest due Feb 28th 2021. Reminder to review board rules and regulations, ethics, financial gains, RFPs and open meetings law materials annually (orientation materials). 7. Milwaukee Health Department branch collaboration updates a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations The Board and Dr. Martin will identify a branch for him to collaborate with, the board discussed Medical Services might be appropriate. No updates on the hiring of a new commissioner, the Mayor’s office is in its final stages and may have more information by the end of the month. 8. Future agenda items Dr. Martin suggested the board could discuss its role, and identity as a board to orient new members, and identify how to collaborate with the new commissioner. 9. Adjournment Board Member Gomez-Tom motioned to adjourn, Board Members Ramey & Sinclair seconded, motion passed In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting.
