Call to Order 2. Roll Call Present: Ruthie Burich-Weatherly, Caroline Gomez-Tom, Bria Grant, Ald. Chantia Lewis, Julia Means, Ericka Sinclair, Dr. Ian Martin and Wujie Zhang Absent: LaNelle Ramey 3. Approval of meeting minutes from February 2021 Dr. Martin motioned to approve, Board Member Sinclair seconded; Motion passed with none opposed. 4. Congratulations to new MHD Health Commissioner, Kirsten Johnson. a. Communication from Commissioner Johnson and Former Commissioner Jackson b. Vaccine updates c. Questions MHD has begun to operate mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics in collaboration with partners. MHD is also prioritizing vaccinating K-12 education staff at the direction of the state and will expand to other eligible groups as vaccine supply increases. City of Milwaukee Page 1 BOARD OF HEALTH Meeting Minutes March 4, 2021 5. Discussion of DHS 140 certification a. Updates, plan submission and timelines for review b. Questions MHD is planning to file an extension with the state to fully respond to any questions and concerns. Board Members Burich-Weatherly and Sinclair will participate in conversations with DHS. 6. Mental Health Needs Assessment a. Common Council file #201411 – a substitute resolution directing the Department of Administration and the Commissioner of Health, in collaboration with the Board of Health, to work with the National Research Center at Polco to draft benchmarks as well as a scope of work, outreach plan and implementation schedule for a citywide mental health needs assessment survey Board members will collaborate with Polco to develop and administer this effort. A few board members will participate in this initiative, while all board members will have the opportunity to provide input. Ald. Lewis and Board Member Burich-Weatherly volunteered to participate and other interested board members can reach out to the Board President. 7. Milwaukee Health Department branch collaboration updates a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations Board Members are encouraged to continue to share job postings with their networks. Vaccine Town Hall event went very well, and had high participation and lots of great questions. 8. Future Agenda Items 9. Adjournment Board Member Gomez-Tom motioned to adjourn, Dr. Martin seconded. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Upon reasonable notice, efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities through sign language interpreters or auxiliary aids.
