Board Member Ramey motioned, Dr. Martin second, motion passed with none opposed.

4. Communication from MHD Health Commissioner, Kirsten Johnson.

210143 Communication relating to those documents submitted to the Board of
Health for its meetings in 2021.
As statewide eligibility expands to all adults 16 & older as of April 5, MHD’s clinic at the Wisconsin
Center will receive additional federal support as a Federally Supported Community Vaccination
Center, and MHD will continue to operate mobile clinics in priority areas based on SVI and in
partnership with community organizations.
5. Discussion of DHS 140 certification
a.Updates, communications update and timeline
b. Questions
MHD sent a response letter to DHS and have had conversations with DHS leadership, and are on
track to appropriately respond and meet standards for re-certification. Commissioner Johnson intends
to complete a strategic plan by early 2022, and plans to engage the Board of Health for feedback
throughout the process.
6. Milwaukee Health Department branch collaboration updates
a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations
Board Member Means is working with the BOMB Doula Program on an April 16th baby shower
event to acclimate doulas with folks at Ascension’s Birthing Center, in collaboration with the Safe
Sleep Program and Alverno School of nursing at Ebenezer Church.
7. Future agenda items
a.Moving board mtgs to every other month, discussion
Board will meet as scheduled in May and re-evaluate again. Additional board member suggestions
included limited the commissioner’s time at meetings, increasing sub-committee work or time spent
collaborating with branches, meeting monthly, but skipping July and December meetings, and
expectations of monthly updates from the commissioner’s staff regardless of meeting frequency.

Dr. Martin motioned to adjourn, Board Member Gomez-Tom seconded, motion passed with none
opposed.

simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic

Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether
the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above
committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that
committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering
will be taken at the simultaneous meeting.
