3. Approval of meeting minutes from August 5, 2021
Board Member Sinclair motioned to approve, Board Member Means seconded and the motion
passed with none opposed.

President/Chair: Board Member Sinclair nominated Ruthie Burich-Weatherly for Chair, Dr. Martin
seconded the motion, which passed with no opposition.
Vice President: Board Member Means nominated Ericka Sinclair for Vice President, and Dr. Martin
seconded. The motion passed with no opposition.
5. Communication from MHD Health Commissioner, Kirsten Johnson.
a. Presentation
b. Questions
210143 Communication relating to those documents submitted to the Board of
Health for its meetings in 2021.
Commissioner Johnson presented an update on MHD’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
including current vaccination rates, case burden, and plans to continue incentivizing and making the
vaccines widely accessible.
6. Office of Violence Prevention- Proposal requested by Gov. Evers office
a. Presentation by Arnitta Holliman , Director, OVP
b. Questions
Arnitta Holliman, the Director of the Office for Violence Prevention (OVP), presented an overview of
OVP’s work to establish and maintain partnerships to reduce violence, their ReCAST Safe Summer
Healing Project grants and ARPA request to expand their violence prevention work in response to
recent trends and increasing violence during the pandemic.

The Public Health foundation is continuing their audit and reviewing cases, while Deputy
Commissioner Weber is working closely with the Mayor’s Office and community partners to develop
a proposal for ARPA funds to address lead poisoning, and expand the capacity to abate homes,
develop the workforce, and implement effective policies.

MHD leadership has identified a consultant and anticipate beginning work in October.

a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations
PIE is working on filling key vacancies.

b. Oct- Lead audit outcomes discussion pending result availability

Dr. Martin motioned to adjourn, Board Member Gomez-Tom seconded, and the motion passed
with none opposed.

simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic
Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning,
Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether
the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above
committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that
committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering
will be taken at the simultaneous meeting.
