1. Call to order
Vice President Sinclair called the meeting to order at 5:38 PM.
2. Roll call
Present: Caroline Gomez-Tom, Bria Grant, Julia Means, Ericka Sinclair, Dr. Ian Martin, and Wujie
Zhang
Absent: Ald. Lewis, Dr. Domonique Weathers
Excused: Ruthie Burich-Weatherly
3. Approval of meeting minutes from November 2021
Board member Grant motioned to approve, Dr. Martin seconded, the motion passed with all in favor
with none opposed.
4. Communication from MHD Health Commissioner, Kirsten Johnson

Commissioner Johnson presented an update on the COVID-19 Pandemic Response including current
case burden, and updates from the CDC on vaccine eligibility and isolation and quarantine guidance.
Board Member Grant motioned to indicate the Board’s support of a proposed mask ordinace that
will be presented before the Public Safety and Health Committee on January 7, 2022, and Dr. Martin
seconded the motion, which passed with none opposed.

Deputy Commissioner Weber shared updates on the lead program, including staffing updates, data on
testing from 2021, and progress on the ARPA project’s process mapping, and budgeting.

Deputy Commissioner Murph presented an update on the department’s strategic planning process,
including the timeline, and progress on qualitative data collection.
10. Milwaukee Health Department branch collaboration updates
a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations

Board Member Grant requested an overview of the procurement and hiring processed and discussion
on how the board can support.
12. Adjournment
Board member Gomez-Tom motioned to adjourn, Dr. Martin seconded and the motion passed, with
all in favor, adjourning the meeting at 7:26PM.
In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this
meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of
the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary
and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods &
Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on
whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the
Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee,
whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In
the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be
taken at the simultaneous meeting.
