Call to order Board member President Ruthie Burich-Weatherly called the meeting to order at 5:34 pm. 2. Roll call City of Milwaukee Page 1 BOARD OF HEALTH Meeting Minutes May 5, 2022 Present: Ruthie Burich-Weatherly (Chair), Ericka Sinclair (Vice Chair), Caroline Gomez-Tom, Bria Grant, Julia Means, Dr. Ian Martin, Dr. Domonique Weathers and Wujie Zhang Absent: none Excused: Ald. Chantia Lewis 3. Approval of March 3, 2022 Board meeting minutes Board member Dr. Ian Martin motioned to approve, Board member Caroline Gomez-Tom seconded, the motion passed with all in favor and none opposed. 4. Communication from MHD Commissioner, Kirsten Johnson. a. Presentation b. Questions Commissioner Johnson presented an update on the COVID-19 Pandemic Response including current case burden, vaccinations, CDC updates regarding who is eligible for the booster, mask guidance and other MHD updates regarding community events and operations. 211824 Communication relating to those documents submitted to the Board of Health for its meetings in 2022. 5. BOMB Doula 2021 programmatic overview, MHD Deputy Commissioner, Erica Olivier a. Presentation b. Discussion Deputy Commissioner Olivier presented an updated overview of the BOMB Doula 2021 program, data updates including client survey results, successes and challenges, and goals for 2022. 6. Review and approval of BOH letter for annual report Board of Health letter for annual report was reviewed and edited. Board member Dr. Ian Martin motioned to approve, Board member Ericka Sinclair seconded, the motion passed with all in favor and none opposed STANDING AGENDA ITEMS: 7. Discussion of DHS 140 certification a. Questions MHD communicates monthly with DHS and goals are being met. City of Milwaukee Page 2 BOARD OF HEALTH Meeting Minutes May 5, 2022 8. Lead Program a. Public Health Foundation 2022 Audit Report, presented by MHD Deputy Commissioner, Tyler Weber b. Questions MHD Lead program is on target and meeting goals. 9. Strategic Planning, MHD Deputy Commissioner, Bailey Murph a. Questions 10. Milwaukee Health Department branch collaboration updates a. Presentation and discussion from BOH members on branch collaborations Board member Julia Means reported that the Community baby shower and Father’s/Men’s health resource event were successful. 11. Future agenda items Invite Mayor Cavalier Johnson to the next Board of Health meeting 12. Next board meeting, July 7th 2022. This will be in person (hybrid). 13. Adjournment Board member Dr. Ian Martin motioned to adjourn, Board member Julie Means seconded and the motion passed, with all in favor, adjourning the meeting at 6:46 pm. In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting.
