Review and approval of the minutes of the September 2nd and October 17th meetings. Meeting convened: 9:03 A.M. Ald. Coggs excused; all other members present with Bill Christianson present for Mr. Nicolini Ald. Borkowski moved for approval of the September 2nd minutes. There were no objectons. 2. Presentation of the Health Department Condition Report. Mr. David Piedt said that the Health Department has three health center facilities, South Side Health Center on S. 23rd Street and W. Mitchell Street, Keenan Health Center on N. 32nd Street and W. Fond Du Lac Avenue and Northwest Health Center on N. 76th Street and W. Mill Road. The Northwest facility also has an external parking garage. Mr. Piedt discussed projects done in 2016 including balcony and porch repair and office renovation on the 1st floor at South Side Health Center and HVAC and air handler replacement at Northwest. He said that elevator replacement and upgrades to the tuberculosis lab at Keenan will be done in 2017. Other future project include security system upgrades at Keenan and South Side, interior renovations at all three facilities, pavement maintenance at South Side, replacement of the boiler at Keenan and the replacement of the ZMB lab equipment and air handling system. Ms. Brengosz asked about the schedule for building condition inspections. Mr. Piedt said that the schedule has not been determined. 3. Presentation of the Fire Department Condition Report. Mr. John Litchford said that the Fire Department maintains 42 buildings; 36 stations, 3 buildings in the repair facility, one fire museum and two training buildings. He said that the training tower was recently inspected. The tower passed the inspection. There were some upgrades recommended for the training tower which have been completed within budget. Mr. Litchford said that the museum is in good condition. He said that the museum was recently part of Open Doors. It was well visited and received. The average age of the fire stations is 60 years. The oldest is 143 years old. The newest is 17 years old. Mr. Litchford said that all but five stations have backup generators. Mr. Litchford discussed the inspection of Fire Department facilities. He said that two staff members will inspect each fire station annually. He said the Fire Department is City of Milwaukee Page 1 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS Meeting Minutes November 21, 2016 COMMITTEE working with DPW to get on the Facility Condition Assessment Program system. The goal is to add 10 stations per year for the next three years and do six stations in the fourth year. Mr. Litchford said that projects budgeted for 2016 are about 95% complete. He said water and mold issues at Stations 35 had to be addressed so some other projects were delayed. He said that in 2017 the Fire Department will begin installing green hinges on the overhead doors to reduce energy consumption. Ms. Brengosz asked when the purchase contract for fire apparatus will expire. Mr. Litchford said that it had already expired. Ms. Brengosz asked if the department was pursuing joint purchase opportunities with other municipalities. Mr. Litchford said yes. 4. Review and approval of the 2017 schedule of meetings. Ald. Borkowski moved, seconded by Mr. Korban, for approval of the 2017 calendar. There were no objections. Meeting adjourned: 9:18 A.M.
