1. 171737 Substitute resolution assigning the honorary street name "CCA Campus"
to North 35th Street from West Rohr Avenue to West Villard Avenue in the
7th Aldermanic District
Sponsors: THE CHAIR
Jocalyn Hall said that the Carter Christian Academy is a choice school that serves k4
through 11th grade and now has buildings on both sides of 35th Street. Ms. Andre
Carter said the school owns 4-5 buildings on this block that also serve the public as
well as students, including a health center and the school has been at this location for
approximately five years and has been in operation for 15 years.
Phil Mroczkowski, Dept. of Public Works, said the department has no objections.
Mr. Benson moved, seconded by Ms. Fix, for approval. There were no objections.
2. 180464 Substitute resolution assigning the play lot name "Bev and Bill Gardner
Park" to 6632 W. Hustis St. (67th & Spokane Play Area) in the 9th
Aldermanic District.
Sponsors: THE CHAIR
Joe Kaltenberg, MKE Plays, said that the Gardners have been active at this park for
many years and are a part of the community meetings. They were instrumental in
getting a tree planted in this park, as well as an electrical outlet to light this tree for the
holidays. They supported the park reconstruction in 2016 and are still active in this
park, which is near their home and is over an acre in size.
The Department of Public Works has no objections.
Mr. McGivern moved, seconded by Mr. Benson, for approval. There were no
objections.

3. 180465 Substitute resolution assigning the play lot name "William Ira Gore Park"
to 1970 West Olive St. (20th & Olive Play Area) in the 1st Aldermanic
District.
Sponsors: THE CHAIR
Former Mayor Marvin Pratt suggested to Mr. Gore's daughter, Cecilia, that the naming
of this park would be a fitting way to honor her father, William Ira Gore. The Gore
family lived in front of the tot lot and Mr. Gore helped maintain this park by picking up
trash and his children also played in this park. He was one of a number of influential
African Americans in the neighborhood and he stayed in the neighborhood even though
he was able to move out.
The Department of Public Works has no objections.
Mr. Benson moved, seconded by Mr. McGivern, for approval. There were no
objections.
4. 180466 Substitute resolution assigning the play lot name "Ervin Killiebrew Court"
to 1970 West Olive St. (Basketball Court) in the 1st Aldermanic District.
Sponsors: THE CHAIR
Jonathan Holt, the nominator, was an older mentor to Ervin Killiebrew, who grew up in
the neighborhood and played basketball at this court morning, noon and night. Mr.
Holt is sure that if Mr. Killiebrew had lived past his senior year in high school and not
died at age 18, he would have returned to the neighborhood and served as a mentor to
other youth, such as Mr. Holt currently does with picking up trash at the park, putting
up nets, running a neighborhood tournament and planning on creating a resource
center for area youth.
The Department of Public Works has no objection.
Mr. Benson moved, seconded by Ms. Fix, for approval. There were no objections.
