Discuss open meetings rules. Overview was given of open meetings rules. 3. Overview for Land Use Working Group (document provided) a. Discuss implications of ICLEI greenhouse gas Inventory, Planning Scenario and Forestry Analysis for Land Use group (3 separate documents) b. Discuss integration of Governor’s Task Force report – chapters 38, 41 and 44 Overview and discussion of greenhouse gas inventory, modeling and forestry analysis prepared by ICLEI. 4. Discuss diversity in Land Use Working Group membership. Discussion of diversity in the Land Use WG membership, ideas for increasing minority membership and/or including people of color in the Land Use work as expert or stakeholder guests Overview and discussion of relevant portions of report of Governor’s Task Force on Climate Action 5. Initial brainstorming of project ideas. Initial brainstorming of project ideas identified several topic areas. Resources related to these topics are to be identified, filed and distributed to WG members, particularly as to key existing programs a. Tree canopy - urban heat island; street trees, public parks, playgrounds, schools; esp. underserved neighborhoods; see Branch Out Milwaukee, SEWRPC b. Vacant corner lots – rain gardens, native plant/pollinator gardens, community vegetable gardens, fruit and nut trees vs. affordable housing; actualize the potential of the Vacant Lot Handbook; Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan; See HOMEGR/OWN; neighborhood input is critical c. Forests/Woodlands -protection and restoration (reforestation) in north-central or south-central neighborhood d. Food / Access to Healthy Food / urban agriculture / reducing food miles e. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Upon reasonable notice, efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities through sign language interpreters or auxiliary aids. Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit) at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
