2. Review and approval of last meeting minutes
3. Final editing of Outreach Feedback Script in file 191923
Background: A Brico Fund grant for $30,000 was received for a vulnerability
assessment with Clean Wisconsin and outreach.
• Tank Brain is under contract to conduct on-line videos. Video platform high level –
building awareness.
• George Martin shared a script with Workgroup in advance of the meeting. Three
people (Bruce Wiggins, Linda Frank, Jennifer Evans) responded with recommended
changes.
Discussion/ review of script
Video platform is intended to be high level for very general input.
Is “climate justice” a term that is understood by the general population?
Dynasty suggests using such terms but perhaps including definitions at bottom.
Maithilee comments that climate justice is a newer term understood by college
student-type populations of young people. She sees a value in exposing the public to
these terms. Don’t assume that everyone knows it.
Distribution plan was intended to be taken up after finalizing the script. The circulation
will be coordinated with the media release planned for March.
Spokesperson – new designee needed to replace George
Mandi, Dynasty – finding out where people are could be the thrust of it rather than
education
Pam – provide some education but not trying to convince people; promote climate
justice
Dynasty – are we speaking to people who are not aware?
Erick – let people know that the climate planning is going on; find out what is on
people’s mind; naturally, we will be reaching people who have concerns or opinions
about climate change
Dynasty – how will we reach people if they’re not aware?
Erick – let’s mention flooding

CLIMATE AND ECONOMIC EQUITY
Jennifer – giving examples is something she suggested in her edits
Larry – he is a former member of this working group which has dealt with these issues
from the start
Linda – community education occurs when we put out the video clips
Bruce – emphasize emissions and green jobs
Mandi – can we go through the questions and make some decisions?
VOTE taken – examples of climate impacts will be included in the script
Deadline – Erick says there is some flexibility in the time; we can spend another week
Current outreach – inform the public of the process; take initial feedback
Erick wants this piece to reflect all the work that the City has done
Intro will be revised.
Question #1, rewrite; TF does not need to be named; could put TF at the top
Mandi promotes the idea of following Jennifer’s edits; it made her motivated to
participate; others agreed
Jennifer shared her document of edits
-
VOTE, on motion of Linda; Bruce seconds, motion approved unanimously:
Jennifer and Shannon will work off of Jennifer’s revisions to make modifications to the
script and send to Erick for comment and they will make final edits
Pam says that we need a chair; all groups have a chair from the TF; Erick will step in
as facilitator until a new chair is named
4. Review of Outreach Campaign, if time allows
5, Next meeting items
Mondays biweekly is the regular meeting time at 11, but next time we will start at
10:30; keeping to one hour would avoid conflicts.
