Dimitrijevic presiding over the meeting. Present: 14 - Pratt Chambers Jr. Brostoff Bauman Westmoreland Coggs Rainey Zamarripa Taylor Murphy Borkowski Spiker Dimitrijevic Stamper Excused: 1 - Perez There was a moment of silence in support of President Jose Perez, whose father had passed. The Pledge of Allegiance was said followed by silent meditation. The question was put: Are there any corrections to the Common Council Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of September 1, 2023? There being none, the minutes of the meetings were approved without objection City of Milwaukee Page 1 COMMON COUNCIL Meeting Minutes September 19, 2023 Ald. Spiker moved for the Common Council to resolve itself into the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of receiving presentations. There were no objections. From his Honor, Mayor Cavalier Johnson, made a presentation relating to the proposed executive budget for the year 2024. "Mailman" Michael Booth was recognized for his service and retirement as a United States Postal Service letter carrier. He was accompanied by Ald. Brostoff. Ald. Spiker moved that the Committee of the Whole rise. There were no objections. Ald. Spiker moved that the Mayor's Budget for 2024 be referred to the Finance and Personnel Committee for its review and consideration and, further, that its report on the budget be submitted at a meeting of the Common Council to be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 9 a.m. There were no objections. Ald. Spiker moved, pursuant to provisions of Chapter 18-04-6 of the Milwaukee City Charter, that a public hearing on the proposed budget for 2024 be held jointly and virtually by the Common Council and the Mayor on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 6:30 p.m., and further, that the City Clerk be directed to publish the time and place of said hearing in accordance of the same Charter provisions. There were no objections.
