FPC20426 Resolution to vote on the appointment of a permanent Chief of Police to succeed Acting Chief Michael J. Brunson, Sr. Sponsors: THE CHAIR The Board of Commissioners of the Fire & Police Commission held a national search, which resulted in the announcement of the top six candidates. Those six candidates were interviewed by the majority of the Board and narrowed down to the top three candidates: Malik Aziz, Chris Davis, and Hoyt Mahaley. Commissioner Everett Cocroft - Vote in favor of Malik Aziz Commissioner Fred Crouther - Vote in favor of Hoyt Mahaley Commissioner Steven DeVougas - Vote in favor of Hoyt Mahaley Commissioner Angela McKenzie - Vote in favor of Malik Aziz Commissioner Anna Wilson - Vote in favor of Hoyt Mahaley Commissioner Nelson Soler - Vote in favor of Malik Aziz Votes tied 3-3. The Chair asked the commissioners one by one, for their vote in case they changed their mind. The votes remained tied 3-3. This item will be heard at the Fire and Police Commission Special Meeting on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Stat. to consider financial, medical, social or personal histories of specific candidates for employment which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories. The Board may then reconvene in open session concerning any such item following the closed session. This notice is being made pursuant to Section 19.84 (3) Wis.
