FPC21487 Resolution to approve the request from the Milwaukee Fire Department to refer the Firefighter/Fire Paramedic (Lead Recruiter) position to the Department of Employee Relations for Classificaton City of Milwaukee Page 1 FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION Meeting Minutes - Final March 3, 2022 This Fire and Police Resolution was ADOPTED by general consent Examiniations 4. FPC21477 Resolution to approve the amended application period for the 911 Telecommunicator Job Announcement Bulletin A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Dana World-Patterson, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye: 5- Avalos, World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 0 Excused: 1- Ramey New Business 5. FPC21475 Resolution relating to the Fire Chief Selection process A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Joan Kessler, that the FPC Board consider the reappointment of Fire Chief Aaron Lipski for a new four-year term as Fire Chief pursuant to the following process: the FPC will host at least one community meeting in March 2022, where at Chief Lipski will respond to questions and comments from the community; the FPC Board will interview Chief Lipski in closed session during its executive meeting on April 7, 2022; and the Board vote on whether to reappoint Chief Lipski in open session during its regular meeting on April 7, 2022. Dana World-Patterson offered a friendly amendment to conduct the final vote during the Board's regular meeting on April 21, 2022. Fred Crouther accepted the friendly amendment. The amended motion was seconded by Joan Kessler. The amended motion prevailed by the following vote: Aye: 4- World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 1- Avalos Excused: 1- Ramey 6. FPC21476 Resolution relating to the FPC meeting format (virtual, in-person, hybrid) A motion was made by Joan Kessler, seconded by Dana World-Patterson, that the FPC Board begin hybrid meetings where commissioners and the public can appear in person or virtually beginning April 17, 2022. FPC21481 Resolution to approve the promotion to the Heavy Equipment Operator position A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Amanda Avalos, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. FPC21486 Resolution to approve the promotion to the Building Maintenance Supervisor II position A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Amanda Avalos, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye: 5- Avalos, World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 0 Excused: 1- Ramey 11. FPC21483 Resolution to approve the probation extension requests for Police Sergeant (10) City of Milwaukee Page 3 FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION Meeting Minutes - Final March 3, 2022 A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Dana World-Patterson, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye: 5- Avalos, World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 0 Excused: 1- Ramey 12. FPC21484 Resolution to approve the probation extension requests for Detective (3) A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Dana World-Patterson, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye: 5- Avalos, World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 0 Excused: 1- Ramey 13. FPC21485 Resolution to approve the probation extension requests for Police Lieutenant (2) A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Dana World-Patterson, that this Fire and Police Resolution be ADOPTED. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye: 5- Avalos, World-Patterson, Fallone, Crouther, and Kessler No: 0 Excused: 1- Ramey Motion to Adjourn A motion was made by Fred Crouther, seconded by Amanda Avalos to adjourn the meeting. None opposed. All in favor. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m. The Board may receive a motion to convene in closed session in City Hall, room 301-B, 200 East Wells Street, on the probation extension requests in the Police Department or the promotion in the Fire Department, pursuant to Section 19.85 (1)(c) Wis. Stats. to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over whom the Board has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The Board may then reconvene in open session concerning any such item following the closed session.
