Summit Avenue in the North Point North Historic District for Thomas Schiffmacher and Frances L. Finley. Sponsors: THE CHAIR Mr. Jakubovich spoke on this item and noted that is a more uncommon wood home, City of Milwaukee Page 1 HISTORIC PRESERVATION Meeting Minutes November 10, 2014 COMMISSION rather than brick or stucco, with many exterior structures. The addition would be on the rear and not visible from the street. The addition would have a shed roof with a bump out with two bay windows under the roof. The windows and door would both be appropriate to the time period of the house. He recommends to remove the intermediate post on the back porch and also either remove a post at the front of the back porch or move it over. The addition would be all wood and painted to match the house. Only part of the addition is covered by a porch and Ald. Bauman was concerned that this portion would decay very quickly, typically in 5-8 years. Mr. Jakubovich recommended using a weather-resistant wood. The second story door will be filled in since it would be directly above the roof of the addition. The owner and architect both present if needed. Approval, with the conditions requested by staff. Mr. Hoeschen replaced by Ms. Keating Kahn, who voted in favor of this item. A motion was made by Blair Williams, seconded by ALD. BAUMAN, that this Resolution be ADOPTED. National Avenue in the Walkers Point National Register Historic District for David Pachefsky. Sponsors: THE CHAIR Mr. Jakubovich spoke on this matter. This building was originally owned by Bradley Tech High School, across the street, as a shop class, but was then sold. The wall along the alley was rebulit by students using cream city brick. The exterior has been left completely bare. The mothball certificate would give the owner more time to work on the building without getting building code citations from the city. The building was built in 1875. The goal is to rebuild the front as accurately as possible, with some changes to the rear and front to meet the interior. The mothball is being asked for one year. Larry Pachefsky, 526 W. National Ave., here for his son, the building owner. It was built by same architect who built City Hall. The siding was removed prior to his son's purchase by the school students. The house has a new roof, but it is not weathertight on the sides. Mr. Hoeschen replaced by Ms. Keating Kahn, who voted in favor of this item. This Resolution was ADOPTED Aye: 6- Bauman, Pieper Eisenbrown, Opgenorth, Williams, Clendenen-Acosta, and Jarosz No: 0 Excused: 1- Hoeschen 5. Updates and announcements.
