3. Project Status
Patrick Flaherty gave a presentation on the following items:
- Recent Activity
Reached 100% design for OMF and Phase 1 and Lakefront with exception of
Couture and Michigan Street locations.
Conducted Project Meetings
Continued Utility Coordination
All private telecom construction agreements have been executed. Work is ongoing.
Project has entered Construction phase
Operations and Maintenance Contract Negotiations being held.
- 90 Day Look Ahead
Continue Private and Public Utility Coordination
Conducting Project Design, Utility and Vehicle Engineering Meetings
City intends to complete contract negotiations with an operations and maintenance
contractor by late summer.
Finalize Lakefront Design Drawings
Kiewit continues to coordinate with the City and WRTP Big Step and is on track to
meet their DBE/RPP goals

Pedestrian access maintained
Construction team’s goal is to focus on safety, for stakeholders and workers
Proactive coordination with major events and traffic generators
St. Paul was opened to bi-directional traffic before Summerfest
Construction team coordinated with Bastille Days to ensure the Storm the Bastille run
and festival went smoothly
Comprehensive look at business loading zones and driveway access
Bike signage in place educating bicyclists on how to properly cross the tracks
Reminder to motorists that “It’s ok to drive on the track”
One-on-one meetings to coordinate with property owners along route
Website and social media kept up-to-date with construction information in weekly
updates
Construction team has standing weekly meetings to meet with local stakeholders at
local businesses along the route
Weekly e-newsletters featuring:
Local workforce
‘Why ride’ – a section for members of the community to tell us why they’ll use the
streetcar
A construction forecast for the following week
News about other cities’ streetcar systems
Fun facts, interesting aspects of the project, etc…
Started a Weekly “Snack Along the Track” lunch initiative to invite the community to
join us for lunch and to support local businesses
Streetcar socials being held to help distribute project updates and information and to
allow local business along the route to connect with the public

IMPLEMENTATION
In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this
meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of
the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary
and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development,
and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the
presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council
or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda
items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a
simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the
simultaneous meeting.

required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing
