Sponsors: THE CHAIR 08 SCHULIST, David Class B Tavern, Food Dealer's, and Public Entertainment Premises License Renewal Applications with Change of Hours for the Beer Garden from Closing at 9 PM to Closing at 10 PM for "SCHULIST TAP" at 2539 W MITCHELL St. (Expires 3/23/2016) The applicant apologized to the neighbors and stated he would clean up their litter as well. The motorcycle activity is one day a week and he will keep the noise down. Individuals also present: Ald. Donovan stated he is familiar with the premises and has been responsive the the complaints by the neighbors in opposition. He added they did a postcard mailing, with 11 responses, 3 in opposition and 8 in support. He reached out to MPD and this premises is not considered problematic. Individuals present in opposition: Cynthia Greenwood 1667 S 26th St, stated there have been fights at the bar and in the street, drugs activity, prostitution, littering, and loud noises. She wants the bar to be closed. Jim Holte 1667 S 26th St, stated he hopes the applicant will work on the issues. He added people smoke outside, but also drink while they're smoking and the beer bottles become litter. Individuals present in support: Amanda Storm 624 1/2 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee, stated is a bartender and she goes outside everyday and picks up garbage. She added that they have security cameras. Christina Nelson 3477 S 44th St, stated she is a bartender and the applicant is good to the neighbors, and it is a family business. Lisa Williams 3939 W National Ave, previously lived near the premises and never had any problems, she added she is a frequent customer. She stated the litter cannot just be blamed on the bar because there are lot of kids in the neighborhood. Nakita Young 2601 W Mitchell St, stated she lives across the street and she is an occasional customer of the bar. She stated her neighbors are the ones littering, not the customers of the bar. She also added there is no drug or prostitution activity. Kashi Schulist 2537 W Mitchell St stated she loves her son and he is wonderful. She added she lives upstairs and doesn't hear any noise and her son does a good job managing the bar. Ald. Individual also present: Sherman Morton, 2nd District Legislative Assistant stated a community meeting was held about a year ago and the Alderman is not in favor of lowering the age restriction due to neighborhood testimony. Individuals present in opposition: T Powers 6005 W Marion St stated there is a lot of noise, fights, gunfire, sex in the alley, and parking issues. Clara Robinson 4318 N 61st St, stated there was gunfire recently, littering, and cars parked in the alley. She added she had a tenant move out because of the premises. Thelma Powers 6005 W Marion St agrees with the previous speakers and stated during a fight someone broke her flower pots a few years ago. Lula Rodgers 6029 W Marion St, stated she watches the cars pull in the lot every Thursday night and leave shooting guns off. She added there is a lot of litter and debris from the premises, and no out door security. James Rodgers 6029 W Marion St stated he agrees with the previous speakers. Ald. Zielinski moved denial of lowering the age restriction and approval with a 10 suspension based on the neighborhood, applicant and aldermanic testimony.
