Jasbir Singh stated single cigarettes have never been sold. Ald. Coggs asked if single cigarettes have ever been sold. Ald. Lewis asked how the premises is working with the community. Individuals present in opposition: Mary Kannass 10805 Redick Dr, Brookfield, WI, pastor of Hephatha Church, stated she works with Lloyd-Hopkins Community School, she has seen loitering. Ald. Rainey moved to enter into the record photos of the drive up as exhibit #1-3. (Prevailed 5-0) Joyce Solinger 1637 N 16th St stated she has seen 14 cars and 1 bicycle using the drive thru and it was not for gas. She added the traffic from the premises is dangerous to the school traffic. She stated she has never seen the applicant attend the community meetings and they should be shut down. Ald. Rainey asked what type of business is being conducted at the drive up window. Atty. Arena stated tobacco products are sold through the drive up window. Ald. Adam Clausen 817 S 2nd St stated he agrees with the previous speaker and has experienced similiar things. Sheldon Garrison 234 N Broadway St stated he does not want a hot dog cart in his neighborhood. Ald. Bauman recommends denial based on nonappearance. Ald. The applicant stated the DJ system is located inside, the outside music will be acoustic, and the bar will be inside the restaurant. The applicant stated the rooftop is more of a lounge setting. Ald. This occurs almost every week and she is considering leaving. Bruce Henderson, manager of 903 E Juneau Ave #11, stated he has been against this premises since 2013 because of the noise. He has heard tenants will move because of this premises. Ald. Bauman stated the last time the applicant did not appear his license lapsed and requests denial based on neighborhood tesimony and nonappearance. Ald. Individual present in opposition: Stacy Kallis, Executive Director of the Easttown Association, stated she is in opposition to the license because he is running a business similar to one 500 ft away. She added 2 Class A licenses are within 2 blocks of the premises. Individual present in support: Musfata Bukadir, 823 N 2nd St stated he is a friend of the applicant and has been helping with the store. Individual also present: Ald. Bauman stated he is not in support of the license due to concentration and problems related to alcohol licenses in the area. He added this is an existing establishment that is doing just fine without added liquor. He is fine with Class A Malt only. Ald. Bohl moved amend the application to Class A Malt only. She recommends a warning letter. Individual present in opposition: Roger Rush 5619 N 35th St stated he is constantly picking up litter, having sleepless nights because of the noise and fights at the premises. There are also cars parked in front of his driveway. Ald. Bohl moved approval with a warning letter based on neighborhood testimony and police report, and amending the plan of operation to clean up litter. (Prevailed 5-0) A motion was made by ALD. BOHL that this Motion be AMENDED. (Expires 5/27/2016) The applicant stated he has no problems complying with the neighbors concerns or attending neighborhood meetings. He added he will get another dumpster for litter. Individual also present: 1st District Legislative Assistant Arlisia McHenry stated there was a community meeting regarding neighborhood concerns. There were 30 residents who were present and the new manager of the premises. Neighborhood concerns include trash in the alley, the dock, boxes everywhere, insuffient lighting, dumpsters overflowing, and people living in the store. The manager addressed some of the neighborhood concerns. Ald. Coggs moved approval with a warning letter based on aldermanic testimony. (Prevailed 5-0) A motion was made by ALD.
