The applicant stated he was unaware of the items on the police report. He stated he
is unaware of what happened during the pajama party, because he rented the place
out for a Christmas party. He added that the loud music complaints are from
surrounding bars. The applicant clarified that the bars are not near his bar, but
patrons from other bars are calling in complaints about his bar.
Ald. Rainey asked why they had exceeded the occupancy by almost 200 patrons.
The applicant stated he is checking IDs, has security and a counter to count patrons
to keep track of capacity.
Ald. Zielinski stated he is concerned that a restaurant would need security.

Claudia Jimenez stated the stopped having private events because the patrons didn't
know how to behave. She added they are now focused on running the restaurant and
community events.

Ald. Donovan stated the application came up twice before Committee and was
denied because of nonappearance. He stated there are no other bars near the
premises. He added he is concerned about their lackadaisical approach to running
their establishment because they missed two hearings regarding their renewal before
the Committee, and they had 200 people exceeding their occupancy. He feels a
message needs to be sent to them.

The applicant stated they participated in the pub crawls to increase their revenue and
only advertised food specials, not drink specials. He has kept the promise regarding
keeping the alley clear. He would like to close at 2 AM to compete with other
businesses.

Ald. Kovac stated there have been many discussions with the North Avenue Task
Force and residents regarding this premises. He added that there have been many
broken promises that were mad in community meetings and before Committee.
Ald. Perez moved to enter into the record exhibit #1 letters from the North Avenue
Task Force and letters/emails from neighbors in opposition.
John Blakehorn 2755 N Murray Ave stated he is opposed to the request and this
would be the only premises in the chain that would close at 2 AM. He has seen
advertisements regarding participation in the pub crawl and drink specials. He has
experienced drunk patrons yelling, breaking things, and urinating and vomitting on his
property. He does not want to see the quality of life decline.
Barbara Cooley, President of Eastside Milwaukee Community Council, stated she is
in oppostion and agrees with the previous speakers and does not want to see
anymore bars open until 2 AM.
Individual present in support:
Patrick Kapple 2730 N Bartlett Ave is a former bar owner and understands the desire
to participate in the pub crawl. He feels new businesses should be allowed to keep
the same hours as existing businesses in order to compete.

Mr. Wasmund stated the security guard had only been working 2 days prior to the
incidents. They have a metal detecting wand and trained security staff. He has
worked with the police many times and has not received any complaints from
neighbors.
