relative to licenses.

The applicant stated the property will be cleaned up and more staff has been hired to
get all the stores consistent. She added that she has 5 locations in the Milwaukee
area. She apologized for the actions of the employees at her locations. She stated
moving forward she will do her best and takes pride in her locations.
Appearing with the applicant:
Atty Mike Murray stated the applicant has a higher position in Speedway and is able to
do more. He stated that there has been some improvements, but not consistent
improvements and there was only one complaint from Ald. Bohl during 2017. He added
Speedway would like to remain in the city and become a good neighbor.
Ald. Bohl stated there are litter issues at the premises and is concerned about the
long term litter plans. He stated Speedway has been neglectful in maintaning their
stores. He stated that dumpsters are overflowing and there was no salt on the ground
to get rid of the ice at the Burleigh St location. He added that the black ice caused his
wife to slip and fall, and then he was told that there was no salt in the store to get rid of
the ice. He asked the applicant if she will be in the Milwaukee area regularly. He stated
that Speedway has not been as responsive as it should be a corporate citizen in
Milwaukee, and he is growing impatient. He added that he is frustrated and doesn't
believe corporate is taking things seriously.
Ald. Bohl moved approval with a warning letter based on issues at the premises.

This application was heard with the previous application and testimony was heard on
both premises.
Ald. Bohl stated there have inconsistent issues with litter that have occurred at the
store.
Ald. Bohl moved approval with a 10 day suspension based on aldermanic and applicant
testimony. He requested an action plan in writing within two weeks and may reconsider
the suspension at Council if the plan is sufficient. (Prevailed 5-0)

Ald. Donovan stated this location has been problematic. He added that he has met
with the applicant twice and he has been willing to work with him. He added the
applicant agreed to relinquish his license if he is unable to open the full kitchen within
6 months. He does not object to the license.

to close Sunday-Thursday 12 AM, Friday 2 AM, and Saturday 2:30 AM. Ald. Kovac

with the applicant, it was positive, and the Board is in support. He added the BID will
be working with the applicant and the business.
Ald. Kovac stated he thought based on the applicant's testimony that it was a
restaurant, but now it sounds like it is a lounge.

Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods &
Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on
whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the
Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee,
whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority.
