The applicant stated they are addressing the rodent situation and they check every
day. He added that they clean 3 times a day and check the temperatures of food. He
stated that they have a pest control company and the employees are cleaning. He
added that he and his employees are doing their best to clean every day and they
close half an hour early to clean. He stated that he previously had a pest control
company spray, but they have to spray again and again. He added that defrosted the
refrigerator and cleaned it out. He stated that COVID-19 is killing his business and
they're just getting back to opening. He added that they have tried really hard, and
cleaned every corner to make it look nice and they're following all the instructions
regarding COVID-19. He stated that he just wants a chance because his family
depends on the business.

a disturbing pattern at the premises of 5 closures in 2019, and once in 2020. He added
that he has real concerns about remedying this situation, and he recommends a 30
day suspension.
Michael Otzelberger - Health Department stated since November 2018 they have been
closed 6 times for pest issues, including roaches and mice, and for making food in a
private home. He added that they issued closure orders 4 times in 2019, and once on
January 15, 2020. He stated that they need assurances that cleaning will be done and
there will be active managerial control. He added that they were called in for a
compliance meeting and they have since cleaned the premises and made changes. He
stated that the last time an inspector was out was February 7th and she approved all of
the open orders.

The applicant stated he purchased the properties in January and he applied for a
license at that time. He added that he has been operating this premises as a rooming
house but does not have a license. He stated that he has offered a tour to residents.

James Dieter 2432 W Kilbourn Ave stated he is opposed because it is not currently a
licensed facility. He added that he contacted the Department of Neighborhood
Services. He stated that there are too many rooming houses in the district. He added
that it is very busy at night time and he sees people smoking dope.
Bobby McQuay - Near Westside Partners stated they opposed the license because of
the issues in the past, there is no work being done, and the applicant has not reached

Darren Fields 911 N 24th St Apt 5 stated he's woken up to people knocking on his
back window over a dozen times and has seen people illegally dumping furniture from
the premises. He added that he doesn't feel it is safe for his kids.
Donovan Sharrod 911 N 24th St Apt 7 stated he almost got in to a fight with someone
while he was trying to back out of his driveway. He added that he hasn't even be there

Keith Stanley - Near Westside Partners stated there are 650 homeless beds in the
near westside neighborhood and the applicant has not been responsive. He added that
he is not in support.
Barb Scott - Near Westside Partners stated she agrees with Mr. Stanley and Mr.
McQuay.
Chuck Schmidt 911 N 24th St stated he is opposed to the license because the onsite
manager is a sex offender and rents to felons. He added that the were people working
on the roof and throwing the debris on his parking lot and cars of his residents.
There were 5 addition residents in opposition.
Ald. Borkowski stated the applicant has no consideration for the residents and he's
operating without a license.
