1. Roll Call
The meeting convened at 3:09 PM

2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Ms. Layden moved approval, seconded by Ms. Klose. There were no objections.
3. New Work Fund
- Application Review:
Black Cat Alley
Kristen Godfrey stated a more diverse panel was selected this year. She stated the
summer mural is by Emma Daisy Gertel and is geared toward community, lightness,
and healing, and the second muralist has not been selected yet. The second mural will
be installed in September. Ms. Klose moved approval to fund the project at $3,000,
with $1,500 going to each local artist, seconded by Ms. Layden. There were no
objections.
Designing Equity: Lexicon
Ms. Layden stated the project isn't concrete and seems like a concept proposal. Ms.
Morris stated the purpose of the project is unclear and recommends putting the
application on hold for further information.
- Updates on Projects
Ms. Morris stated Milwaukee Road still has not begun after receiving funding 2 years
ago, and the new proposal is to do 2 out of 5 sculptures, instead of the original 5.
Ms. Morris stated the Tiefenthaler Park Peace posts and Welford Sanders statue are
moving along.
Ms. Witte stated Tia Richardson has almost completed the 20x20 mural at the Garfield
School redeveopment.

- Updates on Projects
Ms. Morris stated the Milwaukee Bells project is in progess. She stated George
Washington is almost complete, and the Spanish American War Hero is next to be
conserved. She stated the Worker's memorial needs lanscaping that will begin once
the weather is nice.
5. New Business
- Warning System for Endangered Works of Public Art
Ms. Morris stated the warning system will be discussed at the next meeting.
6. Old Business
- Update on State Office Building Mosaics
Ms. Morris had no updates on the mosaics at this time.
- Collections: How to Update
Ms. Morris stated updating the collection will be discussed at the next meeting.
7. Announcements
Ms. Witte stated Beerline project received $50,000 from National Endowment for the
Arts.

meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following
committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation,
Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules.
Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common
Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a
quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s
realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information

Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit) at the
Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking tickets must be
validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to
register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing before a Common
Council committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information is available at
