Sponsors: THE CHAIR Holly Rutenbeck - DPW A motion was made by ALD. STAMPER that this Resolution be RECOMMENDED FOR ADOPTION. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 4- Bauman, Stamper, Brostoff, and Westmoreland No 0 Excused 1- Zamarripa City of Milwaukee Page 2 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes November 8, 2023 5. 230968 Communication from the Department of Public Works relating to the implementation of the WDNR 2021 Urban Nonpoint Source & Storm Water Management Program Planning grant Road Salt Reduction Education and its snow and ice control operations Sponsors: THE CHAIR Danielle Rodriguez and Kaylyn Jennik from DPW Operations and, Alison Madison from Wisconsin Salt Wise Partnership gave a presentation to the members that have been added to the file. Ms. Rodriguez also presented two Public Announcements (PAS) that will be aired on FOX Channel from November 20 to December 6 and presented and informational piece that has been added to the file. A motion was made by ALD. BROSTOFF that this Communication be RECOMMENDED FOR PLACING ON FILE. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote: Aye 4- Bauman, Stamper, Brostoff, and Westmoreland No 0 Excused 1- Zamarripa 6. 230924 Communication from the Department of Public Works relating to its efforts to apply to the Federal Transit Administration for a Capital Investment Grants Program Small Starts grant to extend the Milwaukee Streetcar to Fiserv Forum and to Brady/Farwell/Prospect, and to enter project development for extensions to Bronzeville and Walker's Point consistent with the plan included in the draft update to the Downtown Area Plan. Sponsors: Ald. Bauman, Ald. Dimitrijevic and Ald. Brostoff Kevin Muhs and Jerrel Kruschke - DPW Ald. Bauman said that this communication file is to address the approval of the resolution 230354 adopted on July 7, 2023. Mr. Muhs presented two slides (added to the file) that were the discussed with the committe members. A motion was made by ALD. STAMPER that this Communication be HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR. Bauman City of Milwaukee Page 3 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes November 8, 2023 Danielle Rodriguez - DPW Regarding the communication file 230968 presented earlier, Ms. Rodriguez said that DPW has been doing efforts using the salt responsibly and that public safety remains being the main goal. Operations Update: -Extending the leave collection until Sunday, November 26th -Staffing levels starting to rise -Resignations starting to drop -Retirees ready to drive -About 15 new hires on the next couple of months. -Staff and equipment are ready for the ice-snow season. Sponsors: Ald. Bauman Jerrel Kruschke and Kevin Muhs - DPW Mr. Muhs said that the construction season is near the end. He added that the weather looks good in the next couple of weeks for finishing things up. Ald. Brostoff was excused at 10:31 am 9. 231040 Resolution authorizing the installation of cellular network equipment at 749 West State Street. Sponsors: THE CHAIR Present: David Henke (ITMD), Jordan Schettle (OCA), Aaron Lipski (Fire Chief) and Paul Able (First Net) were present. A motion was made by ALD.
