The Steering and Rules Committee may convene into closed session at 1:30 P.M. on
Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Room 301-B, City Hall, 200 E. Wells St., Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, pursuant to s. 19.85(1)(g), Wis. Stats., for the purpose of conferring with the
City Attorney who will render oral or written advice with respect to litigation in which
the city is or is likely to become involved and then will go into open session for the regular
agenda.
Ald. Kovac moved to go into closed session. There were no objections.

RECOMMENDED FOR CONFIRMATION. This motion PREVAILED by the
following vote:

2. 140912 A substitute ordinance relating to the use of financial incentives to
recruit students to enroll at city charter schools.

Individuals present:
Ald. Kovac moves to accept the letter from Schools and Communities United. There
were no objections.
Larry Hoffman - 1225 E. Wright St. - author of the letter from Schools and
Communities United. He supports the legislation.
A motion was made by ALD. KOVAC that this Ordinance be RECOMMENDED
FOR PASSAGE. This motion PREVAILED by the following vote:

3. 130662 Substitute resolution relating to the procedure for determining
City-owned school buildings surplus and authorizing their sale.

130662 Substitute resolution relating to the procedure for determining
City-owned school buildings surplus and authorizing their sale or
lease, and directing the Department of
Administration-Intergovernmental Relations Division and the Common
Council’s Legislative Coordinator to seek changes in state law to
eliminate certain provisions relating to the sale of City-owned property.

must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code are required to
register with the City Clerk's License Division. Lobbyists appearing before a Common Council
committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information is available at
