YOUTH COUNCIL
Wednesday, May 11, 2016 4:30 PM Room 303, City Hall
1. Call to Order at 4:36 pm
2. Roll call
Present 11 - Tietyn-Mlengana, Estremera-Maldonado, Ellzey, Wade, Haywood II,
Jaeckels, Brunson, Hoeschen, Hines, Lofton and McDade
Absent 2 - May and Jones
Excused 1 - Zollicoffer
3. Youth Council CDBG reprogramming
Mr. Mahan appeared
Youth Council members agreed to target the 2016 RFP on crime prevention and
personal development.
4. Follow up on #NoFreeRides
Mr. Bill Arnold appeared
Members shared their scripts with the group; member Lofton said that she will also
be a panelist at the next My Brother's Keeper (MBK) mini summit and will also
mentioned the youth council efforts on #nofreerides. There will be posters for MBK
event.
5. Announcements
Milwaukee Area Technical College, Micaela Erickson appeared to share a YouthBuild
program at MATC targeted to individuals between the ages of 18 and 24 to learn the
construction skills while earning their GED. Program is scheduled to begin in June
2016 and Ms. Erickson is in the process of recruiting and distribution the information
to all interested.

Members of the Common Council and its standing committees who are not members of this
committee may attend this meeting to participate or to gather information. Notice is given that
this meeting may constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of its standing
committees, although they will not take any formal action at this meeting.

Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5
hour limit) at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water
Street. Parking tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances
are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists
appearing before a Common Council committee are required to identify themselves as such.
