Jones Wednesday, February 26, 2020 4:30 PM Room 303, City Hall 1. Call to Order 4:43PM. 2. Roll Call. Also present: Member-at-large Lauryn Jones Present 15 - VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, Gonzales, Jordan, Young, Jones, Lee, Webb, Kilander, Ahmed, Graham and Hartman 3. Milwaukee Youth Council Priorities: Youth Homelessness Litter Reckless Driving Youth Incarceration Mr. Owczarski lead an interactive discussion relative to an article by the Wisconsin Policy Forum - Wrong Way: Black Auto Death Up in Wisconsin. This article stated that "recent years brought a sharp increase in deaths of black Wisconsinities and all black Americans. Many of these fatalities occurred in Milwaukee, which saw a sharp increase in speeding-related fatalities. Local officials have raised concerns about a reckless driving epidemic; several other factors are also worth considering." For future meetings Youth Council asked that a representative from the following departments and or agencies make an appearance to discuss some of the youth council priorities; Office of Violence Prevention, Federal Court judge, a lawyer who works with youth incarceration matters, and the Wisconsin Policy Forum. 4. Announcements. Community Block Grant Administration Office share their time-line for funding allocation. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Upon reasonable notice, efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities through sign language interpreters or auxiliary aids. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
