Jones Wednesday, May 6, 2020 3:00 PM Teleconference Those wishing to view this meeting should do so at http://city.milwaukee.gov/citychannel. 1. Call to Order at 3:08 pm 2. Roll Call. Present 13 - VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, VACANCY, Gonzales, Young, Jones, Lee, Webb, Kilander, Graham and Jones Absent 3 - Jordan, Roberts and Ahmed Excused 1 - Hartman 3. CDBG Allocation Discussion. Appearing: Mayra Alaniz - CDGA Staff Youth Council unanimously agreed to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for youth services on mental health. Ms. Alaniz said that the Department of Administration although still waiting for the final amount to be allocated for youth services, they will be preparing the Request for Proposal to present before the Youth Council. 4. The Millennial Task Force. Members of the Millennial Task Force appearing: Marquayla Ellison Tiffany Henry Jeremy Fojut Tenia Fisher Nick Carnahan Kacee Ochalek The Millennial task force members based their discussion on the following questionsl: ● What are the objectives/passion areas of the Youth Council? ● How many council members intend on staying in the Milwaukee area? Discussion regarding possible Question, Persuade, Refer training session. MHD - Vaynesia Kendrix - Community Outreach Ms. Kendrix presented the youth council with an opportunity for a virtual Question, Persuade and Refer training. QPR is a suicide-based training that gives the tools and resources to use in the event of being approached or in the presence of someone that is suicidal. How to ask the question around suicide. Help individual recognize their need for help. Identify sources to persuade them to receive the help. In terms of coordination and logistics for this training to occur, Mr. Owczarski and Ms. McHenry will coordinate these efforts. 6. Announcements. 7. Meeting adjournment at 4:06 pm. Joanna Polanco Staff Assistant In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety and Health, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Upon reasonable notice, efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities through sign language interpreters or auxiliary aids.
