Wells Street City of Milwaukee Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202 Meeting Minutes ZONING CODE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE TEODROS MEDHIN, CHAIR Stuart Mukamal, Ed Richardson, Ronald Roberts Staff Assistant, Chris Lee, 286-2232 Fax: 286-3456, clee@milwaukee.gov Tuesday, February 25, 2014 3:00 PM Room 301-A, Third Floor, City Hall Meeting convened at 3:05 p.m. Present - Roberts, Richardson, Mukamal, Medhin 1. 131529 An ordinance relating to floodplain zoning regulations. Sponsors: Ald. Bohl Mr. Richardson said that the change being proposed was verbally discussed at the previous meeting of the committee concerning floodplain revisions to the code. The Department of Natural Resources requested that some floodplain panels be put into the City’s zoning code. Due to an oversight, this change was not put into the code and should have been put into the code from the last revisions concerning floodplains. Atty. Mukamal questioned the appearance of a floodplain panel, where hardcopies are kept, and whether or not the committee has jurisdiction to do map amendments? Mr. Richardson replied. It is a map that designates a particular area and has lines on it to show where flood boundaries are. Hardcopies of these maps used to be kept. The maps are available in databases online and other mapping software. FEHMA and Map Milwaukee websites are a few examples. This change is considered a text amendment. Mr. Roberts asked why the map is called Waukesha County flood insurance rate map? Atty. Mukamal responded that the City owns tiny areas outside of Milwaukee County, including areas near Menomonee Falls and within Waukesha County . Mr. Richardson said these areas outside of Milwaukee County were omitted. Mr. Richardson moved that the proposed ordinance meets the standards of legality and enforceability, administrative efficiency, and consistency with the format of the zoning code. Atty. Mukamal seconded. There were no objections. Meeting adjourned at 3:09 p.m. Chris Lee, Staff Assistant City of Milwaukee Page 1
