Historical Commission Meeting Minutes August 6, 2025 CALL TO ORDER The regularly scheduled meeting of the Historical Commission was held on Wednesday, August 3, 2025. Chairperson Flynn called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. ATTENDANCE Chairman Flyn took the roll call. It indicated as follows: Commission Attendance PRESENT: Chairman Flynn, Commissioner Baur, Commissioner Frasier, Commissioner Walker, Commissioner Hayes ABSENT: Commissioner Zander Other Attendance PRESENT: Elijan Rupczynski, Mason Rupczynski, Jeanne Steffens, Tracey and Loren Skinner, Eric Guenther PUBLIC COMMENTARY • Jeanne Steffens commented on the Grayslake Historical, Come & Share program, which is similar to Story Corps, visited the Long Grove Historical Society's open house, which is in an old house and contains a lot of old paper archives, but no artifacts, inquired about the previous names of the original Mundelein Gale Street Inn and Elly's restaurants. • Elijan Rupczynski advised he was present in pursuit of his Scouts Communication Merit Badge. He is part of Green Oaks Pack 194. • Mason Rupczynski advised he was present in support of his brother and to see how the Commission worked. He added they live in Countryside Lake. • Tracie Skinner advised she has applied for the open position on the Commission and provided her background information. PARK DISTRICT REPORT No report or representatives present. MINUTES APPROVAL No minute approval. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT AND OTHER COMMUNICATION Old # 1 Events Birthday Bash - July 5, 2025  Had 53 people sign the Museum register at the Birthday Bash, band was good, cake was good, Scouts did good job at flag raising. Frie Truck Show - August 9, 2025 Reminders: Fire Truck festival at Tighthead August 9, 2025, Farmer's Market on August 23, 2025, Cemetery Walk on September 27, 2025. Ivanhoe Cemetery Walk - September 27, 2025 and October 1, 2025 Cemetery Walk: general discussion regarding have to conduct the walk, it was decided we will use the same procedure as last year. Registration will begin September 1, 2025, through the Village website as was done last year, with the first rehearsal on August 10, 2025, at St. Andrew's Church, 10 South Lake Street. Ray Wells, who is included in this walk, home at 422 North Seymour Avenue, still stands. Computer Training No report. Newsletter No report. Other No report. MUSEUM OPERATIONS Archiving Presented 2010 German newspaper article "Der Dom" regarding Old #1, author is from same German home town as Cardinal Mundelein. Facility Maintenance / Landscape Installations No report. Collections - Accessioning / De-Accessioning Motion to accept recommendations for accessioning and de-accessioning. Nothing to access at this time. Volunteer Hours Volunteer Hours: 106.5  Museum Attendance Attendance: 82 (including birthday Bash) New Artifact Acquisitions No report. Caboose MPRD has indicated want more involvement regarding the Caboose via discussion and planning for rehabilitation. Other No report. NEW BUSINESS New Member Have received one application for the open position. Mundelein High School Have not had any response from MHS regarding proposed shared history program involvement. Fremont School Presentation  Fremont School presentation not yet scheduled, Shawn Killackey is handling. Lure of the Local Lure of the Local-general discussion regarding whether to participate, type of artifacts to display, when it is scheduled.
