Historical Commission Meeting Minutes September 3, 2025 CALL TO ORDER The regularly scheduled meeting of the Historical Commission was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Chairperson Flynn called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. ATTENDANCE Chairman Flynn took the roll call. It indicated as follows: Commission Attendance PRESENT: Chairman Flynn, Commissioner Baur, Commissioner Frasier, Commissioner Walker, Commissioner Zander, Commissioner Hayes ABSENT: Other Attendance PRESENT: Jeanne Steffens, Tracey Skinner, Eric Guenther PUBLIC COMMENTARY Jeanne Steffens: • The Wauconda sound system is a microphone connected to a bullhorn. • There is a Countryside Golf poster on display at the Union Railroad Museum in Union, Illinois. • General discussion on whether it may be available or desirable to acquire. Commissioner Baur will investigate and advise at a future meeting. • Spoke to MPRD guitarist who has played at the Farmer's Market about playing railroad songs at the museum. He expressed interest in doing so, but is not available on Saturdays. Tracey Skinner: • Has submitted an application for the open Commissioner position and is attending to observe. PARK DISTRICT REPORT No representative present, no report. MINUTES APPROVAL CHAIRMAN'S REPORT AND OTHER COMMUNICATION Docent Schedule  After discussion, it was agreed to eliminate docents who consistently failed to appear for scheduled shifts without notice. Ivanhoe Cemetery Walk - September 27, 2025 and October 1, 2025 65 participants have signed up, and a maximum of 70 for each performance, each docent-led group will have twelve participants. Actors have requested that no sound system be used. Will need one table and two chairs from the Museum for the sign-in table. Docent walkthrough Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Cemetery. Summer Newsletter No Report Lure of the Local The Commission will participate with a postcard display consisting of postcards on hand and part of the Terry Schaul postcard collection. Fremont School Presentation No report. Seminary Golf Course History No report. Mundelein High School Outreach No response from the school, no further action will be taken. MUSEUM OPERATIONS Archiving Have received a large collection of information on people of Mundelein, need to review to determine how to archive. Facility Maintenance / Landscape Installations No report. Collections: Accessioning / De-accessioning Motion to accept recommendations for accessioning and de-accessioning. Motion to accession the following items: • Baby Brownie camera on loan from Jeanne Steffens.  • 1960's transistor radio on loan from Jeanne Steffens. • 1987-88 picture of the teachers at Diamond Lake School. • a St. Mary Annunciation picture signed by the artist. Other 2026 is the 60th anniversary of the Kirk Players. A commemorative display will replace the Old #1 display for 2026. Presented for future consideration: replacement of one of the large white display cabinets with multiple smaller display cases. NEW BUSINESS Commission Vacancy - Applications A second application has been received for the open position on the Commission. After discussion, it was decided to set September 30, 2015, as the cutoff for the submission of applications, with a date for meeting with the applicants to be set at the October 1, 2025, regular meeting of the Commission. Other  Roadway Clean-up is scheduled for September 13, 2025, Commissioner Hayes will notify all Commissioners and docents. OLD BUSINESS Digital Site Map No report. Story Corps Story Corps is on hold. Digital Frame Display Digital Frame - in process of loading pictures to be displayed. Caboose Timeline for completing repairs of Caboose is to be determined by MPRD. Other No report. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR REPORT Freedom will be the Village contact regarding sign-ups. New business cards will be ordered for each Commissioner, with the only change being the email address. ADJOURNMENT Motion to Adjourn the Historical Commission Meeting.
