CALL TO ORDER
The Meeting of the Mundelein Community Days Commission was held on May 15, 2025 at
300 Plaza Circle, Mundelein. Chairperson Frasier called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM.
ATTENDANCE
Chairperson Frasier took the roll call. It indicated as follows:

2025 MUNDELEIN DAYS PLANNING
Layout
Liaison Howe presented the updated festival map.
Budget
The Commissioner reviewed the budget. Commissioner Biegel said the high school will
be charging to use the facility next year and a line item will need to be added.
Sponsorship
Commissioner Newby said the Commission has generated $56,850 in donations so far,
which is consistent with this time last year. Commissioner Newby said there are fewer
active talks with higher level sponsors like last year. However, another $7-10,000 in
donations from legacy donors has yet to be received. The second beer cup has been
filled. Bartenders are secured for the sponsor tent.
Fireworks
There was no report.
Parade
Commissioner Ditanto submitted applications to Planters Peanuts, Wienerrmobile, and
the Navy Band. She will reach out to volunteers from the volunteer list. Liaison Howe
will provide Commissioner Ditanto with a Memorial Day parade lineup when it is
complete.
Carnival
There was no report.
Pageant
The Commission discussed ways for the pageant to utilize fundraising money.
Commissioner Biegel said there will be new auditors. Liaison Howe reminded the
Commissioner to provide in-kind sponsors by May 31 to be accepted into the mailed
newsletter.
Music
Commissioner Quaiyoom said he and Liaison Howe spoke with the sound/stage
manager, Kyle, to discuss options for the banners.
Munch / Food Vendors
Laision Howe said all spots were filled and one out-of-town vendor was turned away.
Beer Booth
Liaison Howe said Tighthead would like to serve the three typical beers and the Old #1
beer. Liaison Howe said a new ticket booth had been purchased. The Commission
discussed raising the price of Miller Lite and Coors to $6, so that all beer are the same
price. This would help fill a budget gap and make it easier for volunteers to manage.
The Commission agreed that raising the price to $6 is the best option.
Motion to set the price of all beer, wine, and seltzer to $6 per drink.

Special Events
The Commission reviewed the finalized schedule. Commissioner Salski said the Park
District will keep the Bags registration time the same as in previous years.

There were no comments.
CONCERTS IN THE PARK
Liaison Howe mentioned Medline is very interested in sponsoring the Concerts in the Park
series. Liaison Howe and Commissioner Salski will meet on site to discuss placement of
the portable toilet and other logistics. Liaison Howe will update the concert guidelines and
include Park District contact information. All but two concerts have food trucks booked.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
The Memorial Day parade and ceremony are ready to go. Liaison Howe will distribute the
final lineup when it is complete. The Commission discussed the plan to use Carl Sandburg
in the event of rain.

CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Mundelein Community Days Commission was held on April
17, 2025 at 300 Plaza Circle, Mundelein. Commission. Chairperson Frasier called the
meeting to order at 8:00 AM.

Liaison Howe is updating the map for advertising.

Budget
Liaison Howe will update the budget and redistricubte.
Sponsorship
Commissioner Newby said $26,600 in donations have been received so far, which is
behind track compared to last year. There are still several regular sponsors that have
yet to donate. The economic climate seems less favorable this year. The final
sponsorship letter will be mailed the week of May 1.
Fireworks
There was no report.
Parade
Commissioner Ditanto is going to contact the Navy Band, Oscarmeier weinermobile,
and the Planter Peanutes mobile. Six additional volunteers are needed for the parade.
Laisison Howe will get a list of potential volunteers.
Parade Route Change
Motion to change the parade route to stage at Mundelein High School, travel east on
Hawley St., south on Seymour Ave., east on Hammond St., and conclude at Archer
Ave/Hammond St.
Liaison Howe said construction on Plaza Circle will impact the parade route and it must
be changed. The Commission agreed the alternative route presented was the best
option.

There was no report.
Pageant
Commissioner Biegel confirmed the high school was booked. However, there would be
a fee for sound and light. Commissioner Biegel will provide Liaison Howe with a social

post for the Queen's upcoming Ronald McDonald House event. The Commission was in
favor of the Pageant Committee hosting a People's Choice award at the pageants,
hosting a fundraiser through McDonald's, and vendors selling flowers and cakes at the
pageant.
Music
There was no report.
Munch / Food Vendors
There are six confirmed food vendors and four out-of-town vendors on hold until May
1. The vendors on-hold include a funnel cake, ice cream vendor and bubble tea.
Beer Booth
Tonality will no longer be serving beer at the beer tent. An electronic payment system
has been secured. A fee of 2.5%+$.10 per transaction will be passed onto the customer.
The Commission will review beer ticket prices at the May meeting.
Special Events
A caricature artist has been secured. The boy scouts' monkey bridge event was moved
to Saturday. A magician offered to perform for free and added to Thursday. The full
schedule is almost finalized.
Comments
CONCERTS IN THE PARK
All concerts are booked. Laision Howe will send the volunteer list to the Commissioners.
Commissioner Salski confirmed the gazebo will be open by Memorial Day.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Parade Route Change
Motion to change the parade route to stage at the Metra Station, travel west on
Division St., north on N. Pershing Ave., and conclude at Memorial Park
The parade route must change due to the construction at Plaza Circle. The Commission
agreed this route is the best alternative.
