Launch 5-Year Transportation Plan: Select consultant and negotiate SOW. Include TAG in major decisions 2. Launch Streets Design Standards Update: JUB Consultants to include TAG in design discussions 3. Send out 2-3-22 PowerPoint to group 4. Send out email list to group 5. Send out future meeting invites. TAG will meet every other month. Topics Presented Needing Further Discussion: 1. Overall System a. Examine certain high use corridors to improve efficiency, safety, accessibility, aesthetics b. Can the City combine several small developments to trigger Traffic Impact Studies? c. Understanding how growth is impacting our overall system. Include Canyon County in discussion. 1|P a g e February 3, 2022 2. Communications: a. How do we make the voice of the people who need solutions heard? b. Is there a system in place for citizens to notify the City of Streetlight outages? Let’s add potholes and other maintenance items to this question. 3. Accessibility a. Sandpoint has examined how anyone over 10 years old can navigate the system. b. How can we provide good access for non-vehicle travel to shopping location? 4. Roadway Aesthetics: a. How can we beautify entrances and other roadway features to show pride in our city? b. Other cities put a portion of budget toward artwork within city right-of-way. Meeting Notes: 11:30-11:45 Group Overview/Introductions 11:45-12:15 Transportation System Overview  Introduced Canyon County Partner Transportation Agencies  Introduced group members  Streets and Public Safety highest needs from Mayor’s survey  Overview of Nampa’s Transportation Infrastructure o Discussed upcoming signals and roundabouts o GIS system that allows citizens to tag streetlights that are out o Discussed ITS System o Discussed the VRT On Demand Transit System  Accessing more neighborhoods and expanded footprint for Nampa and Caldwell  People are using the app more – working with businesses for internet access to assist customers o TDS and Broadband  Funding Overview o Transportation Master Plan - $14M per year funding gap o Send out power point to group 12:15-12:50 Group Discussion/Feedback:  Overall System Priorities o Sandpoint decided at one time to think about how a 10-year-old can navigate a transportation system o 880 system that anyone from an 8-year-old to an 80-year-old can get somewhere o How do you get people to and from shopping locations? o How do you get the system to flow? o How the committee can view the plan as a whole o How do we make the voice of the people who need the solutions heard? o Idea of looking at corridors and how we can make them safer? 2|P a g e February 3, 2022 o Keep the safe routes to school initiative moving forward o Ideas of adaptive challenges/solutions vs technical challenges/solutions o How do we include the beautification of our city in our projects to show the pride of our city? o What is the cost of being a sprawling community? o Aggregate question of how the constant development is impacting the system overall? o Including the county in the conversation o Keeping downtown Nampa people centric  Major Regional Project Discussion  Funding Discussion 12:50-1:00 Action Items /Conclusion The Transportation Advisory Group (TAG) will help facilitate the City’s goal to modernize and revitalize Nampa’s transportation system, creating a safer, more efficient, more livable, and economically prosperous community. 3|P a g e
