CALL TO ORDER: I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for January 12, 2021 to order. Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting remotely. The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes shall be taken by roll call. B. ROLL CALL: Present 5- David Blaydes, Kim Widup, Mark Wright, Ronald Davidson, and Kirsten Young C. PUBLIC FORUM: No members of the public attended D. NEW BUSINESS: Review and approve 2021 calendar meeting dates Review and approve open session minutes from December 8, 2020 Review and approve the 2021 calendar meeting dates A motion was made by Commissioner Widup and seconded by Commissioner Davidson to approve the calendar dates for 2021 Aye 5- Blaydes Widup Wright Davidson Young Review and approve open session minutes from December 8, 2020 A motion was made by Commissioner Wright and seconded by Commissioner Young to approve the open session minutes from December 8, 2020 Aye 5- Blaydes Widup Wright Davidson Young F. REPORTS: 1. Police Department Report A few overdoses recently Mental health continues to rise in community and requires a lot of PD time and resources A couple stolen cars; most steals had keys left in the cars Many PD retirements coming up; 11 PD openings right now Police Officers still waiting for vaccine; group 1B 2. Fire Department Report Structure fire on December 30th and January 3rd 3 days in a row of car accidents around the holidays Crash on 88 due to a police chase with a stolen vehicle starting in Lisle Retirement at the end of the month Tammey Morris being promoted to Lieutenant 60% from Fire employees have been vaccinated G. CLOSED SESSION: 4:23 p.m. - 4:50 p.m. H.
