CALL TO ORDER: I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for September 28, 2021 to order. Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting remotely. The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes shall be taken by roll call. B. ROLL CALL: Present 5- Shafeek Abubaker, Ronald Davidson, Mike King, Mark Wright, and Kirsten Young C. PUBLIC FORUM: No members from the public attended D. NEW BUSINESS: Review CAPS nominations from FD Discuss moving Police Officer candidates with previous police experience to the top of the Final Eligibility Register Review and approve open session minutes from September 16, 2021 and September 20, 2021 Review and approve open session minutes from September 16, 2021 and September 20, 2021 A motion was made by Commissioner Wright and seconded by Commissioner Abubaker Aye 5- Abubaker Davidson King Wright Young F. REPORTS: 1. Police Department Report 2 bank robberies last week; teller was harmed but not seriously injured; FBI is involved in investigating Costello burglary is still under investigation Naper North received a bomb threat; school was evacuated and classes cancelled; still under investigation Overall serious crime has been significantly down this year 2. Fire Department Report Open House event went well; showcased teams and equipment 1 motorcycle fatality Small up-tick in COVID cases of those vaccinated Division Chief Tom Moran will be retiring after 30 years New hires start on 10/4 G. CLOSED SESSION: 4:15 p.m. - 4:22 p.m. H.
