C. PUBLIC FORUM:
Schweitzer thanked City staff and those who have worked on the Moser
Tower Assessment report. She made a statement in support of repairing
and maintaining the Moser Tower. She feels that the tower has value
beyond dollars and cents and is the only public work that supports the arts.
Schweitzer shared that several regional publications list the tower as a
desirable cultural asset. She also read an interesting reflection written by
the Buddhist Thich Nhat Hahn that states, “We frequently walk with the sole
purpose of getting from one place to another. But where are we
in-between? We can arrive in the present moment with every step.”
D. OLD BUSINESS:
1. Moser Tower Assessment - Bill Novack
Novack stated that the report was distributed at the March 2, 2019
Planning, Design & Construction Committee (PDC). The committee will
consider the information and come to the next PDC meeting prepared to
discuss their thoughts. The goal is to come to consensus on a
recommendation that will be sent to the Riverwalk Commission for
consideration at their April meeting. The full Riverwalk Commission will
have the opportunity for discussion before taking action on their
recommendation to the City Council. Commissioners are encouraged to
review the findings in the report and familiarize themselves with the results
of the Riverwalk survey (which can be found on the Riverwalk webpage)
