CALL TO ORDER: Chairmen Kovener called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. . B. ROLL CALL: Present 10 - Jaqueline Clermont, Vicki Coletta, Shannon Greene Robb, Richard Grimes, Donna Kearney, Melvin Kim, Gary Kovener, Deana Losurdo, Colleen McQuillan, and Cindy Lo (Student Member) Absent 2- Rebecca Obarski, and Ganesan Narayanan (Student Member) Staff present: Dawn Portner, Special Events Coordinator C. PUBLIC FORUM: No speakers under Public Forum D. OLD BUSINESS: Approve the SECA Commission meeting minutes of May 22, 2018 A motion was made by Greene Robb, seconded by Kim, approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 9- Clermont, Coletta, Greene Robb, Grimes, Kearney, Kim, Kovener, Losurdo, McQuillan, and Lo (Student Member) E. NEW BUSINESS: Direct staff on format and logistics for the series of upcoming annual SECA Grant Fund workshops At the chairman's request, and to avoid any issues, the Commissioners tested electronic devices and wifi access in advance of the upcoming series of workshops. The Commissioners requested staff review the following applications to make sure they were recent and completed according to SECA guidelines: City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 10/29/2018 SECA Commission Meeting Minutes September 6, 2018 - Fair Lady Productions - DuPage Symphony (Concert Season) - Naperville Women's Club (Young Adult Art Contest) Lorsurdo entered the meeting at 5:57 p.m. The Commission discussed how many years some applicants have been receiving SECA grant funding and how these events and programs should be funded in the future. The Commission also discussed the appropriateness of allowing salary requests if the salary was connected to a specific program or event and decided that it was too late in the CY19 cycle to make any changes or recommendations. Both the number of years and salary prohibition will be discussed prior to the beginning of the CY20 SECA grant fund year. The new point system was discussed and the Commissioners reviewed some challenges with the points as well as the two program evaluation sheets. F.
