CALL TO ORDER: Chariman Kovener called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. B. ROLL CALL: Present 7- Rebecca Obarski, Jaqueline Clermont, Vicki Coletta, Richard Grimes, Melvin Kim, Gary Kovener, and Colleen McQuillan Absent 5- Shannon Greene Robb, Donna Kearney, Deana Losurdo, Cindy Lo (Student Member), and Ganesan Narayanan (Student Member) Staff present: Dawn Portner, Special Events Coordinator C. PUBLIC FORUM: No speakers under Public Forum. D. OLD BUSINESS: Approve the SECA Commission meeting minutes of September 6, 2018 A motion was made by Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Councilwoman Obarski, to approve the minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6- Obarski, Clermont, Coletta, Grimes, Kim, Kovener, and McQuillan Absent: 3- Greene Robb, Kearney, Losurdo, Lo (Student Member), and Narayanan (Student Member) E. NEW BUSINESS: Host a Public Forum for SECA applicants to present CY19 Program requests Chairman Kovener gave opening comments. The following representatives presented requests for CY19 SECA Grant funding: -Julie Jancis, DuPage Symphony Orchestra City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 10/29/2018 SECA Commission Meeting Minutes September 15, 2018 -Kimberlie Richter and Tiffany Brackmann - Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra The Commission requested additional information from the applicant on their 990 requirements. -Donna Shaw and Sherry Tauguski - Naperville Women's Club -Rodger Guebert - Naperville Chorus The Commission requested the applicant to review the Budget Worksheet submitted with their application since the numbers for the Project Total did not match. -Angie Johnson - Young Naperville Singers -Lynne White - Jumping Off the Page The Commission requested additional financial reports to review. The applicant stated those forms would be provided. -Linda Vanderkolk - Naperville Art League/Riverwalk Fine Art Fair -Jeffrey Cass - Brightside Theatre The Commission requested additional information about a $79,000 miscellenous revenue item listed on the Profit and Loss Statement. -Chip Staley - ARTSpeaks The Commission requested the applicant review the Budget Worksheet submitted with their application. The applicant stated he would review the information submitted and respond to staff with any needed updates and changes. -Brian Lynch - North Central College -Vanitha Veeravalli - Bharatam Academy of Dance -Pete Paulsen and Sandy Rocush - The Exchange Club of Naperville/Ribfest -Denise Pape - Naperville Jaycees/Last Fling The Commission requested updated financials. Those submitted were from 2015/2016. Also requested was an explanation of the Jaycees financial obligations for the Jaycees Smart Park and additional information from the auditors report concerning net fundraising proceeds. -Kate Bleeker - German American Events/Christkindlmarket Commissioner Kim exited the meeting at 10:02 a.m. -Brand Bobosky - Naperville Century Walk The Commission requested the applicant contact the City's Transportation, Engineering and Development Department prior to the October 3 SECA Commission meeting to discuss the plans for the project. If the project is not eligible for funding because the City has not completed the review/approval process, the Commission will discuss options on October 3. -Christine Nicarico Roy - Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund -Pete Ellman - Pete Ellman Big Band The Commission requested additional information from the applicant on his attempts to secure sponsorship opportunities for his project. -Janet Sevilla and Joseph Schranz - Midwest Soarring The Commission requested additional information on a $3,000 grant listed on the Budget Worksheet. -Jeff Sand and Steve Ziagler - Summer Place Kovener reviewed the upcoming CY19 meeting and workshop schedule for the SECA Commission. F.
