CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Brodhead called the meeting to order at 6:03 PM. B. ROLL CALL: Present 9- Judith Brodhead, Natalia Dagenhart, Rich Gannon, Shannon Greene Robb, Allison Longenbaugh, Kader Sakkaria, David Scriven-Young, Lai So, and Arthur Zards Absent 1- Tom Miers Dagenhart arrived at 6:04 PM. Sakkaria arrived at 6:14 PM. Also present: Miranda Barfuss, Community Grants Coordinator; Richard Lo, Artist; Kimberly Stull, Chief of Building and Making, DuPage Children's Museum C. PUBLIC FORUM: None D. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Approve the SECA Commission meeting minutes of July 10, 2024 Attachments: SECA Commission Meeting Minutes DRAFT 07-10-24 Commissioner Greene Robb made a motion to approve the SECA Commission meeting minutes of July 10, 2024, seconded by Dagenhart. The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote. E. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Approve a change-of-scope request from Richard Lo Attachments: Richard Lo - Change of Scope Request Richard Lo and Kimberly Stull reported that the DuPage Children's Museum has agreed to place Lo's mural on the South wall of the museum's exterior at the corner of Spring and Washington. The mural will depict flying kites and elements of the design will be depicted inside the museum as well. The mural will be painted and installed on wood panels so that it can be removed. The museum anticipates needing to re-side the building in the next five years. Commissioners discussed the need to ensure that clear terms on decommissioning and removal of the art, insurance, ownership, and maintenance be included in a legal agreement signed by Lo, DuPage Children's Museum and the City of Naperville. The City of Naperville will draft the agreement. Commissioners discussed publicizing the mural, donor recognition of SECA, and thanked Lo and Stull for finding a home for the mural. The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote. F. ADJOURNMENT: Barfuss reported that the SECA Mandatory Workshops for 2025 funding are coming up August 22 and 26. The applications are fillable Word forms submitted via email rather than through an online portal. The budget worksheet and all application questions remain the same. Commissioner Scriven-Young made a motion to adjourn the SECA Commission meeting of August 21, 2024 at 6:35 PM, seconded by Sakkaria.
