CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Fuhrer called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. B. ROLL CALL: Present: Arista Wang (arrived at 6:42 pm) Sophia Luo Lance Fuhrer, Chairman Bill Donofrio Vidya Joshi Neelam Saboo Alan Lowe Absent: Peter Foyo Shruti Panse, Student Representative Others Present: Patty Gustin, Council Liaison Rachel Pruneda, Staff Liaison C. INTRODUCTION/WELCOME OF NEW MEMBER(S) D. PUBLIC FORUM: Patty Gustin's sister joined the meeting to discuss Frida Kahlo. She attended the event being held at the College of DuPage. She brought some ideas for the Hispanic Festival, such as a photo backdrop and coloring books related to Friday Kahlo. E. OLD BUSINESS: F. REPORTS: Approve Sister Cities Commission minutes of July 14, 2021 Alan Lowe moved and Sophia Luo seconded to approve the minutes of August 11, 2021. Motion passed by the following vote: AYES (7): Wang, Luo, Fuhrer, Donofrio, Joshi, Saboo, and Lowe NAYS: (0) Receive and file the Treasurer’s Report for July 2021 There was no treasurer report for the month of July due to not having appointed a treasurer. Foundation Update: City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 12/9/2021 Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 11, 2021 Brent, Robert and Randy of the Sister Cities Foundation all were in attendance. Brent stated that the Foundation had not received or seen contracts or any agreements related to the Hispanic Festival. Website Update: There was no update on the website. Festival Update: Festival planning was discussed and a number of things that still needed to be done with relation to the festival. Commissioners were to provide a script to Scott McKay by September 1st. Also, Commissioners were going to reach out to Chief Puknaitis to see if we could get the color guard to present the flag at the festival. Rachel will work with Communications on a press release.
