CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Fuhrer called our meeting to order at 6:40 pm. B. ROLL CALL: Roll Call: Present: Lance Fuhrer, Alan Lowe, Bill Donofrio, Arista Wang, Peter Foyo, Neelam Saboo Josh Vidya was not present for roll call, but arrived at 6:43 pm. Absent: Sophia Luo Student Representatives Present: Tarana Ramkumar, Muhammad Habeeb Khan Absent: Zach Wu, Shrui Pansi Also Present: Councilwoman Gustin, Rachel Pruneda C. RECOGNITION:: Welcome our Student Representatives to Sister Cities Commission Our chair, Lance Fuhrer welcomed our student representatives to the Sister Cities Commission. D. PUBLIC FORUM: E. OLD BUSINESS: F. REPORTS: Approve Sister Cities Commission minutes of August 11, September 9 and October 13, 2021 Motion was made by Neelam Saboo and seconded by Peter Foyo to approve the minutes of August, September and October 2021. Motion passed by the following vote: AYES (7): Lance Fuhrer, Alan Lowe, Bill Donofrio, Arista Wang, Peter Foyo, Nellam Saboo, Joshi Vidya NAYS: (0) Receive and file the Treasurer’s Report for August through December 2021 Neelam Saboo presented a copy of the Treasurer's report to all of the commissioners. The report was accepted and filed. Foundation Update: There were no Foundation members present. City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 2/11/2022 Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final December 8, 2021 Commissioners held a brief discussion as to which of its members would like to serve on the Foundation to represent Sister Cities Commission moving forward. Peter Foyo and Arista Yang both agreed to serve as our representatives. We will add this item as a new business item and take a vote there. Website Update: There was no update provided on the Website. Festival Update: Propose purchasing $25 gift cards for students who helped with the festival A brief discussion about the upcoming festival was made. We are awaiting approval of grant funds by SECA. The date that was selected for next year's festival is September 17, 2022. Sister City Update: Alan Lowe discussed holding a future meeting with Cancun, Mexico. He has discussed reaching out to officials there to share ideas and collaborate on a pen pal project. Rachel Pruneda suggested to the group that we invite them to a public meeting or only have 2 Commissioners and CW Gustin meet with officials in Cancun. Councilwoman Gustin provided us with a brief ambulance update. There has been a delay in transporting the ambulance due to the government paperwork in Cancun, Mexico. G. NEW BUSINESS: Lance continued a discussion under New Business in order to vote on designating two (2) members to the Foundation Board. A motion was made by Alan Lowe and seconded by Bill Donofrio to have Peter Foyo and Arista Yang serve as members of the Foundation. The motion was approved by the following vote: AYES (7): Lance Fuhrer, Alan Lowe, Bill Donofrio, Arista Wang, Peter Foyo, Nellam Saboo, Joshi Vidya NAYS: (0) Bill Donofrio motioned, seconded by Alan Lowe to pay for 12 months of maintenance to the Hispanic Festival Website in the amount of $35 to take us to October 2022. The motion was approved by the following vote: AYES (7): Lance Fuhrer, Alan Lowe, Bill Donofrio, Arista Wang, Peter Foyo, Nellam Saboo, Joshi Vidya NAYS: (0) Approve Sister Cities Commission 2022 Meeting Schedule Motion was made by Alan Lowe and seconded by Neelam Saboo to approve the Sister Cities Commission meeting schedule for 2022.
