CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Fuhrer called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m. B. REPORTS: SISTER CITY FOUNDATION UPDATE - SHAFEEK ABUBAKER POSITION APPOINTMENTS TO THE FOUNDATION: Shafeek Abubaker, President Neelam Saboo, Treasurer Tina Cui, Recording Secretary HISPANIC FEST UPDATE: GENERAL: LANCE FUHRER City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 3/7/2023 Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final July 13, 2022 Chairman Fuhrer went through the budget line item by line item to make sure that we are on budget. MARKETING - BILL DONOFRIO Bill Donofrio reported that to submit an article to Positively Naperville, cost will be $1000. This costs covers an ad in August for a 1/4 page, in September an 1/8 of a page and 1/2 page column (article) in October and November. Labor Day Parade has a $200 entry fee, plus we would want to purchase 2500 post cards to market the festival. We will also use facebook to advertise the festival, as well as the website. Bill is working with Acura to display/market their vehicle at the festival. He has also been meeting with the park district and the city to make sure that placement of a vehicle(s) at the festival is prohibited and to determine where the vehicle(s) should be placed. Bill is working with Cancun Visitors Bureau to provide chefs, artist or performer to come out during the festival. More information will follow as it becomes available. ENTERTAINMENT - SOPHIA LUO The entertainers that have been booked will be linked on the Hispanic Festival website page. If the entertainers require a down payment, Neelam will complete the required form and submit it to Dawn Portner. This money will come from our SECA grant. Rachel Pruneda is looking into a deejay for the event and will report on her findings at the next meeting. AWARD CEREMONY - BECKY RUDOLPH Becky Randolph will be working on the award nominees and report back to Commission. COUNCILWOMAN GUSTIN UPDATE: Councilwoman Gustin reported that the ambulance that was going to Cancun went to Ukraine. CW Gustin plans to talk to the Mayor about attendance at our meetings and work with him to fill any openings on the Commission. TREASURER'S REPORT: NEELAM SABOO There has been no changes in the Sister Cities budget.
