C. PUBLIC FORUM:
A group from Slovak Academy of Chicago spoke under public forum to
introduce themselves. They wanted to introduce collaborating on an idea to
celebrate 30 years of Naperville being Sister Cities with Nitra, Slovakia. Slovak
Academy is a weekend-based school that teaches the Slvak language,
literature, history, geography and religious eduction. They are approved and
accredited by the Ilinois State Board of Education.

Approve Sister Cities Commission minutes of April 12, 2023
The Sister Cities minutes of April 12 was approved by voice vote. Motion
passes.
Received and file the Treasurer’s Report for April 2023
Receive and file the Treasurer's Report. Sister Cities started with a balance of
$3,350 and to date has spent $139 on Website Licensing Fees with a remaining
balance of $3,211.00

SISTER CITIES FOUNDATION UPDATE - SHAFEEK ABUBAKER
Shafeek Abubaker provided an update on the Hispanic Festival. He shared a
google sheet with everyone. Tasks have been assigned to Foundation
members and Commissioners. :

Chairman Fuhrer will work on a flyer. Neelam Saboo has been added as an
administrator on the facebook group.

Dj, Entertainers and vendors are still being worked out.
Fees for Merchandise Vendors is $75. Fee for food Vendors is $100
F. NEW BUSINESS:
Tony Chamberlain and Arista Wang attended the Illinois Sister Cities
Conference in Rockford and provided an update.
Tony Chamberlain reported that Highland Park has done a tremendous job with
their Sister Cities. They have an Adult Literacy Program, Cooking classes, and
they sponsor a Youth Festival. We should really look into all of the things they
have done for some ideals and goals for our Sister Cities.
Tony Chamberlain stated that Carol Wolfe, Illinois Sister Cities Association
President would like to meet with us. We will reach out to arrange a future
meeting.
