CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Fuhrer called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. B. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Wang, Fuhrer, Lowe, Chamberlain, Mani STAFF PRESENT: Rachel Pruneda ABSENT: Chamberlain, Rudolph, Saboo, Councilwoman Longenbaugh C. PUBLIC FORUM: D. OLD BUSINESS: E. REPORTS: Approve the Sister Cities Commission meeting minutes of July 12, 2023 Commissioner Lowe moved to APPROVE the Sister Cities minutes of July 12, 2023, seconded by Commissioner Wang. Motion passed by voice vote. Receive and file the Treasurer’s Report through July 2023 Commissioner Saboo was not present for the meeting. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - LANCE FUHRER SISTER CITIES UPDATE: COMMISSIONER ALAN LOWE Commissioner Lowe reported on Cork, Ireland. He would like to pursue this as a possible Sister City. They have a City Council like we do. Commissioner Lowe would like to look to the Irish Festival organizers for some direction on pursuing a connection in Ireland. OTHER COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS OR UPDATES: SISTER CITIES FOUNDATION UPDATE: SHAFEEK ABUBAKER Shafeek was present from Sister Cities Foundation and reported to the Commission on the highlights of the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Festival. Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15-October 15. To help highlight Hispanic Month and the festival, Sister Cities Commission and the Foundation plan to recognize some key people who have made a difference in the Hispanic Community. Commissioner Rudolph will forward the names to the Mayor's Office prior to the event so that Rachel can assist with putting these awards together.
